At this price point and self repair feature, it should also offer at least 5 years of support.

Does the phone need a figure print to unlock?

Using a crop from the main camera instead of a crop from the tele camera at 4x is so stupid: You get fewer pixels per object, less light per exposure time from an object and even a worse color filter array (Nona Bayer instead of Quad Bayer).

Where the heck did you guys find the 3.5mm hp jack on the Skyline, coz I don't seem to be seeing one?

It still doesn't look like quite a Lumia design because those were unibody polycarbonate phones and with slightly more curvier sides on the rear
But there was some other HMD phone teased that has a more Lumia like design. Idk when that will arrive

Okay GSMArena, in what world is an optical under display reader better than a capacitive side one? Far less secure, blasts you with light whether you like it or not, usually always placed too low and no feedback whatsoever to know if you've actually placed your finger on it or not. Granted, the Skyline doesn't have a press to unlock option, but most phones do, and in that case a side mounted reader is always way better than an optical just because the capacitive technology is better, and it falls naturally on the power button when you want to unlock your phone, not some random display spot

For some reason I want to bite the bullet with this phone. If only hmd don't split it's software support into business edition and normal . 5 year of security patches with this phone would easily replace fairphone

A fine phone, but at a too high price.
It wouldn't surprise me if the price is not only thay high because of the design/repairability.
But also because no bloatware = no extra money to eventually lower the price.
Because companies get paid for it, one of the reasons why I think high end Xiaomi and Samsung phones should not have them just like iPhones and Pixels do not.

This phone is DOA here in Asia (if ever it'll became available). For example, a ZTE Nubia Z60 Ultra 8/256GB is around 500Euro when converted while the Skyline is around 550Euro. Using Cortex-a78 (2020) and cortex-a55 (2017) cores in a 2024 phone and then price it very high is just delusional.

Regardless of the performance. This phone proves that repairable design is possible with all the bells and whistles intact. Objectively a better design than the CMF Phone 1.

If you are interested in this phone primarily for its camera setup but the chipset puts you off, check out Honor 200, which for some reason was not mentioned as an alternative.

HM6 and those 1/1.56" ( from all 3 suppliers) are not that good.
Those 1/1.7" ( imx555, 557 and 703) are better.
