Docktor, 26 Aug 2024Pixel 9 will never be midrange phone.True. It does shine when it comes to camera, though.
Battery is pretty solid, too. Would like to know if it heats up.

That's the only reason why they don't use Exynos across all their phones. It really isn't because it's cheaper to use SD chips in their phones. Read between the lines if you want to know why they can only use SD in NA market.

Anonymous, 25 Aug 20247+ Gen 3 > Tensor G4 Cry moreEverybody complains about Tensor, but raw performance is not important. The most important is work balansed phone. In Pixel 9 everything goes smooth and quick. The phone is fully responsive and do everything you want fluently. And about game fanatics. I think not a single game user would buy Pixel for gaming. Google is not making game phones, understand it. Buy a ROG phone.

So instead of a 200$ Snapdragon, they are using a 50-70$ Tensor.

Of course, the selling price stays like they would have the 200$ Snapdragon inside.

I encourage everyone reading this article and seeing the video "test" - to check out real life footage of people recording with their Pixel9 series phones (on Youtube). I mean: not sticking it on a tripod, filming a static scene with some moving objects, but more like: holding your phone, walking around, panning etc.

The pixels COMPLETELY fall apart in that regard (not only to iPhones).

It is not worth for most of them.
Not even samsung ( bigger and richer than all other , except google and apple) use own chips for all phones

Company would burn too many billions (way more than most make in single year) and take years to reach even level of Exynos, imagine Snapdragon and A .

Sure, they may not win the benchmark race but they're able to offer unique features not available on SD chips.

And SD product segmentation absolutely sucks.

While I understand why the pricing strategy of Google is the way it is (price discrimination to maximise profits), I do not necessarily agree with it. For a minor boost in profits, it is hurting the value perception of Pixel lineup.

Pixel 9 256 GB has been priced at $900, but with 'launch offer' you can get it for $800. And in 1-2 months, the prices are going to drop below $800 anyway. So why not launch it at $800 to begin with! I am sure the hike of $100 (from Pixel 8 launch price) would have been much more acceptable if it included a storage increase as well.

When even mediocre overpriced flagships like the Pro Max and Xperia 1 have 3 cameras you know Google haven’t got a clue!

The barely ain't isn't great when you take its size into consideration. 4700mAh but doing worse than the 4600mAh Xiaomi 14 that has a bigger, brighter and higher resolution display and a more powerful processor.

And I wouldn't call that compact.
Compact phones must remain under 149mm x 69mm to be called compact.
