Experience: Android to iPhone 16 Pro Max
Short about me: This is my first iPhone and I’ve been android user my whole life. I’m 30 yrs old. Fan of Sony phones and design. My wife uses MacBook Air while I use Surface Pro and uses windows at work as well. My experience so far with iOS and iPhone itself.
Positives:
1. Customisation: Surprised (not completely since I follow tech news) to use iPhone and not missing android. Could be result of customisation apple borrowed from android. I know widgets, wallpapers etc are new.
2. Battery: My iPhone 16 pro max is tank. I barely charge it 100%. In 4 weeks, I have charged 100% only twice, in both cases, I have used extensively by using google maps, speed cam app (in Europe), Spotify for more than 4 hours continuously and then used camera randomly for 3 hours and still is not below 20%. I guess only Sony Xperia 1 VI comes closure to this battery life.
3. Screen: Satisfied (coming from 4K screen Xperia 1 II) and 120Hz is good to have
4. Never had any problems with the heat. My last chip is SD865 and it can run all apps but while heavy gaming, always produced heat. But never with A18 Pro.
5. Design and Feel: I personally didn’t feel it too big, wide yes but overall not bad. Bezels are excellent and I liked the Dynamic Island Features. External design feel awesome, reminded me of Sony in terms of premium quality.
6. Camera: Nothing to complain. Liked the colours and liked the quality. Night photography is excellent except for Moon photos where my 4 year old Sony could capture better with manual inputs and tripod. I guess I have to download paid app for manual control of camera. Videos no other phone can compete. Capacitive shutter button indeed innovative and Sony missed the opportunity here being the long supporter of it.
7. Shortcuts app: Loved the automations like as soon as my car connects to my iPhone, Speed cam app starts in the background, brightness 50%,Mobile data on, Wifi off more and more.. My only complain however is while automation only iTunes Music app can be played but can't find spotify. However, I can automate opening the app spotify and then playing the music however needs manual touch for continuing automation.
Negatives: mostly on software side
1. I can’t access notifications or control panels from middle of the screen like android. It made me use two hands all the time. I wish apple borrows this feature. Also the back gestures work only in few apps. However I enabled double tap on back to bring down notification center.
2. Worst keyboard I have ever used. No numbers pad along with letters for such huge screen. --> Swiftkey is installed
3. Auto suggestions horrible. No Clipboard --> Swift key
4. Selecting and copying is lot complicated than android.
5. Can’t find any transparent clocks with weather for free like android. Limited apps and expensive apps. Too complicated widgy apps.
So far, I didn’t miss android and I liked my 16 Pro Max

In few days Monday actually i am getting my iPhone 16 Pro max 256gb sim ver. No one has been harder critique of the apple cult than me. Only to mention that currently my iphone 11 pro max almost 5 year old makes the best pictures ever seen. In another hand my daily driver for the last two years Redmi Note 11 great battery still going strong but schwach SoC Performance. Not surprised when the fact it's only 200 buck of cost. 1587 charging charging cycle on my ip 11 pro max and still goes strong. Cell is made by Sunwoda. 4K in the year 2020 ( compared here with 16 pro max ) indeed justified the price of 1400$ in my region. Why bought? Because of 500 simontanious open windows. Ip 16 pro max by it's Design and the fact it's 3nm process it's SoC will definitely seeve another 5-6 years without any compromise. But still love my Hyper Os more than IOS. See ya'll Monday

Jagganatha, 15 Oct 2024Well after long and patient repeated phone calls about swee... moreThe other thing is that sadly you are unable to modify the settings before you create a panorama. You cannot under or overexpose- extremely useful when the start of your sweep may be radically darker or brighter than other parts. You cannot apply any of the Apple settings varying tone- their presets, or color temperature etc. You get an exposure and colour balance that is automatic with the iso and shutter speed fixed at the first frame, and anything you want to change has to be done in photos or an image-editing programme afterward.
And on this point you might like to check to see whether your image editing programme (even Apple photos as your current OS has it) is able to edit Apple's Pro Res Raw, Raw,Heif, and the new Jpeg + formats!

Well after long and patient repeated phone calls about sweep panoramas, the upshot is that they refuse to quote any possible sizes for the sweep panoramas because the maximum pixel height varies continuously as a result of the software image modifications. Thus unlike ordinary sweeps from old-fashioned sensors that are the resolution they say they are (unlike these quad-bayers which are only really 12MP resolution (even the 24MP option is an uprezzed 12MP file) pixel height varies up to about 4000 pixels (the highest Apple quoted me was 3800+) down to as low as 2332 and 2887 pixels height which radically affects true image size when you take into account that the ultrawide, though marked 0.5 magnification in the software is really rather less than that, so the details, if they exist cannot really be seen if you, I presume, make a sweep pan at an in-between zoom setting: fatal, as zooming destroys the actual resolution which can then go down to only 3 or 6MP. So panoramas should still be OK as long as you use the lens own focal length setting and not anything in between, as I am guessing these lower figures hopefully represent.

What is the maximum pixel height of a panorama made with the standard wide-angle & with the ultrawide wide-angle. Not rocket science but not tested or tried GSM arena ?
This is vital information Apple does not provide anywhere at all, so please help us find out. Thankyou

Whilst we all can see unboxing videos, we have no part in their content.
By this I mean the boxes themselves.
Apple has chosen to place three camera lenses butted up against the external sheet of cardboard that is the top of the box.
The box itself is as tiny as possible. It has no foam padding protection at all, & is barely twice the thickness of the phone itself.
Does it ensure YOU get your new iPhone in perfect condition?

gG, 02 Oct 2024You are more like a shareholder than a consumer. You defend... moreI have iphone and android both and i enjoy both for the strength those offer me. This comment section is mostly biased towards android and they just regurgitate what they are told. I am just against the flock who blindly follows (for the same reason i really dislike the teens with blue bubble green bubble stuff). The test that shows faster charging doesn't degrade the battery are dubious and their test methodology leaves gaps.
No wonder, a xiaomi redmi 13c user won't like a 15 pro max. If you know, you know.

-Trix-, 03 Oct 2024This isn't badly optimized Android phone, 8GB is more ... moreIt shows that you have absolutely no clue about how RAM works, nor about the cost for the manufacturer. Even Samsung who sparingly upgrade their phones have surpassed 8 GB already.

I really think there is an issue with either your audio recording setup or how you measure frequency response because the iPhone 16 pro max matches the Asus ROG phone Ultimate With subwoofer in low frequency response but the sound recording shows a very different story.

And, well, the scree... moreWell what do we have here Sony**
Xperia 1 VI aficionado
**sonny? (no Apple Intelligence to check)
Xperia increases internal memory so not buying a phone with MORE MEMORY Point I.
Why do I comment then... Reearch I will invest probably a week before I upgrade (in Android) which the vast majority will be not just seeing the bullet point next to the price in a phone store be it Android or Apple
In this Nick Ackerman video he compares the iPhone 16 Pro Max to the S24 Ultra, he comments, you are not making a mistake picking one over the other, I am not one I do accept that many some are equally with either. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=J6xwyx4Tbog
People especially the Apple Vineyard dwellers fixated on Benchmarks / Processors.
The 3nm A18 SoC is a beast, both Antutu and Geekbench Apple rules It is predicted that Qualcomm’s next will be 3nm?
Benchmarks alone are 1 criteria. Both these phones display similar speeds you are not be able to do something else waiting irrespective of the benchmark.
This is the 2nd review where only 30 watt Apple not 45W been ahieved as well as the sub 5000 mAh battery
For me this year Apple has made more individual tweaks which seem greater than I expected.
The point already made is you can and do see these features already in say Sony and Samsung FLAGSHIP for less than Apple (Buying not BIDDING).
Samsung S24 Ultra only this year increased the base memory 8Gb from 12Gb RAM. If 8Gb is not enough close some apps.
Also here complaints still re Apple battery, especially the amount of time for a full charge from flat.
Who fully depletes battery? and given what the vast majority charge "good" in 30 minutes make this a low priority. Many sleep for more than 2 hours each day.
In that regard, if you can't charge your phone, you're probably swimming. Is there anybody leaving their house not fully charged, no cable, and no access for 8 hours? Apple have never had the removable batteries!
Apple Ecosystem is you pay a high price for more memory and have to pay again to back it to the cloud.
Even though not launched, I doubt that Apple Intelligence will offer anything new or available uniquely to iPhone (iOs 18 didn't either)
Every year you get the report IPhone aren't selling well, then later record sales follow
You want my prediction no GUARANTEE! Before you see this in an Ice Universe tweet "IPhone sales in India will skyrocket!" The biggest YOY regional sales increase will be recorded in India.
For me however I am aware of the iPhone.

iPhones are beginning to become interesting with these new sensors, but, as with last year's Tony Northrup adds wise words of caution because they are of 12MP resolution when using the lens at its own focal length, but that resolution disappears rapidly as you zoom, down almost to nothing before the zoom uses the next lens in the series and then you are back up to 12Mp again. 48MP is quad-pixel, not a real measure of resolution, though interpolation on the main cam appears to yield adequate 24MP results (but does this apply to the Ultrawide as well- I AM asking!).
I have a Nokia N8 from 2010. It has the same actual 12MP resolution as these new iPhones, but only one lens and its only good in daylight where it easily equals an iPhone.
16 MP gives much greater detail. So older quad-bayer phones with 64MP (16x4) will easily outshine any iPhone, but that of course does not account for the iPhones amazing video AND their unique feature, which is adequate Ultrawide panoramas with the 13mm lens.
I say adequate as, contacting Apple, I have no reliable info on their pixel height- vital to know how well they fill your screens! One advisor said 2260, another 4032 ( the horizontal 4:3 vertical size) and yet another advisor claimed 2886. However, even supposing the highest figure to be the true one we needs must take into consideration that a 12-13mm lens reduces image magnification at the same distance to well under half that of the 26mm main cam lens. Thus be be able to see the detail, and to record it, pixel height needs really to be in excess of 4000 pixels on a 4K screen. I get 3600+ from my LG but it is too small on a 5K iMac, and that is with a 16mm f1.9 lens. Please if you can try one out, post the results!!
