Picked up mine 5 days ago after my 2020 Oppo Reno5 5G's power button stopped working

      So far I'm hatting:
The size. Too big and the screen feels washed compared to my partner's S21.
Phone gets hot even when I'm not using it. It gets worse when I open a simple app like WhatsApp.
Batter life only last me half a day so I charge it overnight and then again from 20% at 2pm.
This Samsung UI duplicated so many services but I've managed to uninstall a few but they are still there.
Slow charging times especially compared to my Oppo Reno.

      What I like:
Bigger screen bigger keyboard. Less typos.
      Esim functionality.
Wireless charging. I still need to get a charger of my own.
      Those cameras are awesome.
      Glass back feels good.

They have cool looking EVs but lots of bugs, that's why Tesla sells so good even though not many features.

Anonymous, 21 Oct 2024Wow, getting a lot of hate... Guess Samsung users are worse... moreMy average Samsung premium phone has 7 YEARS OF FREE ANDROID UPDATES AND SUPPORT meanwhile your average premium chinese phone has only 3-4 years.

Go worship your chinese phones somewhere else.

DarkStar9173, 26 Oct 2024Killing themselves with these exynos chips...Nope, Exynos 2400e is excellent they are not killing anything

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2024I'm still rocking the legendary S20 FE 5G and I can co... moreSending this on an S20 FE 5G too!

In fairness to Samsung, they finally started giving everyone the good chips with the S23, and only half-reversed with the S24 (Exynos markets got Exynos again, but not on the Ultra). The S20 FE 5G - a phone that was literally better than the more expensive main line - was an utter aberration, and given that it was 2020 the pandemic may well have been why. (Surplus of SD865s if people weren't buying phones at a time when they literally couldn't be mobile?)

After the absolute messes we've seen from later FEs, this feels like a phone that's in a logical place - it really is a case of "S24 and it's the same but there's cost-cutting compromises so it's not." That formula is inherently very price-sensitive - because it lives or dies by how much price separation it has from the full-fat Galaxy S - but it definitely feels like it's got big separation from the A5x this time.

And I might even get it myself - I said I wouldn't because of the optical fingerprint sensor but I'll take that compromise if the price separation is sufficient. Which, right now here in the UK, it is - at least on contract deals. (The best two-year contract total cost at the time of writing is £811 for the 256GB Plus, but £639 for the FE with a Galaxy Watch FE via redemption, and I think that's enough of a gap to accept the tradeoffs. If I lived in the US and could get an 8G3 in a Plus, it'd be a much tougher call. But for an 8G3 here I'd have to step up to the Ultra...)

About speakers in stereo mode: keep in mind that speakers performance replay GREATLY on app and CONTEXT of the media consumed.

In My Files app playing 5.1 AAC mkvv movie? Earpiece is quieter and focused on highs. Same in other generic apps. It's like it was tuned for portrait playback...

In VLC? WAY more balanced playback. Movies have proper stereo and I can say that audio is almost identically loud on both speakers (while having great performance for both left and right channel!)

I think it is not bad. Price is bit higher than hoped but there are not many alternative choices. Android, big screen, solid quality, water&dust resistance/proof, non-chinese and 5 year update.

OMG Samsung, 20 Oct 2024Garbage SoC, garbage cameras, garbage memory ROM and garbag... moreWell, you could argue that Samsung is a strong activist for globalization. :))
It's not a bad phone; just a bad price, atm.

Garbage SoC, garbage cameras, garbage memory ROM and garbage Expandable memory (no card). No SnapDragon = NO SALE IN NORTH AMERICA. Sell that Exynos trash to 3rd World countries! Garbage color options. What is not to like? What did I miss? The only good thing is that it does NOT have a freaking 3rd World headphone JACK!

I Just Read, 14 Oct 2024First of all the FE is not the flagship, it is a standalone... moreIt costs the same new as the flagships from half a year ago cost on the street. It is directly competing in terms of price.
