Anonymous, 14 Oct 2024I'm still rocking the legendary S20 FE 5G and I can co... moreSending this on an S20 FE 5G too!
In fairness to Samsung, they finally started giving everyone the good chips with the S23, and only half-reversed with the S24 (Exynos markets got Exynos again, but not on the Ultra). The S20 FE 5G - a phone that was literally better than the more expensive main line - was an utter aberration, and given that it was 2020 the pandemic may well have been why. (Surplus of SD865s if people weren't buying phones at a time when they literally couldn't be mobile?)
After the absolute messes we've seen from later FEs, this feels like a phone that's in a logical place - it really is a case of "S24 and it's the same but there's cost-cutting compromises so it's not." That formula is inherently very price-sensitive - because it lives or dies by how much price separation it has from the full-fat Galaxy S - but it definitely feels like it's got big separation from the A5x this time.
And I might even get it myself - I said I wouldn't because of the optical fingerprint sensor but I'll take that compromise if the price separation is sufficient. Which, right now here in the UK, it is - at least on contract deals. (The best two-year contract total cost at the time of writing is £811 for the 256GB Plus, but £639 for the FE with a Galaxy Watch FE via redemption, and I think that's enough of a gap to accept the tradeoffs. If I lived in the US and could get an 8G3 in a Plus, it'd be a much tougher call. But for an 8G3 here I'd have to step up to the Ultra...)

About speakers in stereo mode: keep in mind that speakers performance replay GREATLY on app and CONTEXT of the media consumed.
In My Files app playing 5.1 AAC mkvv movie? Earpiece is quieter and focused on highs. Same in other generic apps. It's like it was tuned for portrait playback...
In VLC? WAY more balanced playback. Movies have proper stereo and I can say that audio is almost identically loud on both speakers (while having great performance for both left and right channel!)

I think it is not bad. Price is bit higher than hoped but there are not many alternative choices. Android, big screen, solid quality, water&dust resistance/proof, non-chinese and 5 year update.

Wow, getting a lot of hate... Guess Samsung users are worse than Apple...
Enjoy your average phones at premium prices...

[deleted post]Well, you could argue that Samsung is a strong activist for globalization. :))
It's not a bad phone; just a bad price, atm.

I Just Read, 14 Oct 2024First of all the FE is not the flagship, it is a standalone... moreIt costs the same new as the flagships from half a year ago cost on the street. It is directly competing in terms of price.

" The S24+ also has an autofocusing selfie, wired DP video output "
You mean S24FE doesn't have wired DP output? But S24FE has USB 3.2 and Samsung Dex as per your own listed specs, so how's it possible?
Anyhow, reading "The competition" on page 6 of the review, one thing is clear: FE series is irrelevant now, with no saving on price too.
They need to merge S25 and S25FE into one small, light, maybe slightly slower, cheaper phone.

Just work harder and save a bit more money, then you can buy the S24+ since it's a better device for not much more.

Will be better once the price drops. It’s priced as an S series but it’s more A55+ in reality.

Anonymous, 15 Oct 2024FE = Fairly Expensive; Farewell Enthusiasts; F-ing Exynos. It is expensive, that I agree... but this years Exynos is better than last years Snapdragon. So it's not sh*t by any stretch.
This Exynos is actually fine for the FE version. But I agree that S24 and S24+ should have the latest SD.
Exynos 2400 is still a good chip and there isn't much diference apart from heat management (slightly better on SD), but for the expensive cost the flagships should have the best of the best.

I'm still rocking the legendary S20 FE 5G and I can confirm that the FE isn't the FE from before anymore since it was always supposed to have a flagship Snapdragon CPU and it was only supposed to distinguish from the normal S series in for example LTPO display, QHD resolution, RAM (6-8gb instead off 12 or 16), etc. Now if the newer FE models would've had a flagship Snapdragon CPU ( for gamers ) it would've make sense to call in S series for fans but now the only part that made it FE is gone (CPU).
I hope they improve S25 FE.

xPandamon, 12 Oct 2024I mean you can see the stability in the review here, it... moreFirst of all the FE is not the flagship, it is a standalone 2nd tier phone offer "premium" features" not flagship to people who don't want or even (apology) can't afford the Ultra / Plus/ or Base
I see a lot of yay nay given to one feature. It is a collection of important features for that buyer, to that regard there is the comparison tool which I rank after the COMPREHENSIVE IMPARTIAL REVIEW.
Your many one feature CRITICISM are not supported by facts.
The 24 FE (Fooled Everyone?) Exynos 2400e has posted BETTER GEEKBENCH 6 score multi & Single and better ANTUTU 10, but has fared badly on battery than a recent flagship SAMSUNG S23 Ultra using Flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. not me Gsmarena. https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=12024&idPhone2=13262&idPhone3=12772
Factor in everything. I personally wouldn't buy a phone at launch price I do look at the other suggestions of better phones.
Sadly the vast majority won't do the research for a phone thet may use for the next 3 years
