Anonymous, 30 Mar 2025How to tell people I know nothing about audio quality witho... moreYou clearly don't, if you're agreeing with the guy complaining his LG Wing, a phone using the default Android audio tech, sounds bad. Of course it sounds bad, he's listening to the default Android PCM setting(10/12-bit/48kHz).
Pretty much any non-budget phone is going to get you good to great audio output with a dongle, more so than a chip would, in this phones case it would be 24-bit/192kHz which is perfect, you could go higher like Samsung(32-bit/384kHz) but at that point it would be unnecessary for casual listening.
So what are the usual arguments for 3.5mm stans? The self-proclaimed "audiophiles,"
1) "The dongle falls out"; this is a strange argument from them, because it implies that they are walking/exercising while listening to music. ANYTHING will get yanked out if it gets snagged on something, 3.5mm will get yanked out just as easily as a dongle, that's why most people buy wireless in the first place, to be able to move around without getting tangled up in cords, putting audio quality second or third on their priorities. And yes, even modern BT technology can sound almost as good as any other corded tech. Unless you're sitting and analyzing the sound you won't hear a difference while walking.
2) "It drains the battery" again it brings into question your actual knowledge on audio. ANY dac chip, whether internal or external is going to drain the battery, it's the whole reason why on the LG V30 the chip had to be activated before being able to be used, it's going to draw power and it's going to get hot. Do you want that heat inside your phone, which will throttle the processor?
Point is, an external DAC theoretically will SAVE you battery as it is not heating up the other components within your phone. There are also passive dongles, but where's the fun in that?
3) "I can't listen to music and charge at the same time!!!" You bought a 6150mAh phone that has 80w fast charging and you're unable to wait 15 minutes to charge up you phone for the day?
Another benefit from dongles is that you're able to experiment with different chipset sound profiles. Don't like how a certain manufacturer sounds? You can return it and try something else. With internal DACs you're stuck with whatever the brand decided to stick in their phone, personally I did not like how the LG V30 sounded and would mostly use my DAP instead, and from what I am hearing a lot of people don't like how the Moondrop phone sounds. And pray to whomever you worship that whatever chip they put in is actually capable of NativeDSD output.
Also, dongles add *just* a little bit of extension for those headphones that are slightly too short.
And there's my essay on why 3.5mm people are actually just too cheap to buy a dongle but hide behind "le audiophile" mask out of embarrassment. If you ACTUALLY care about music that much, just get a dongle, if you supposedly have expensive headphones, it shouldn't be a problem dropping $30 on a dongle. Stop pushing your cringy "needs an audio jack" stuff at us on every opinion section, it's annoying, manufacturers will never waste R&D time designing a board that can accompany technology that most consumers won't care about. Nobody cares about that nor your flac(terrible container) music downloaded from an unknown source material.

YUKI93, 24 Mar 2025Speak for yourself. I also use 3.5mm dongles for my LG Wing... moreThank you for still having real common sense, sir. Don't let people like him normalize the removal of both 3.5mm audio jack and microSD card slot. If anything, it only gives those capitalist corporations more chance to suck them into the inescapable brand ecosystem. Be a true smart techie and always realize that competition never ends. It's the reason I left Samsung for Sony and never looked back.

Even a $10 simple cable from AliExpress (e.g., VE, Keysion, JCally) will offer noticeably better sound quality than a phone's output, and if you spend more, the difference will only become more pronounced

Zero issues. Never anything less than 3 bars anywhere I go and more times than not, 4-5 bars. Never a dropped call. Never a call quality issue. Zero problems. Set up took, literally, all of 3 minutes (Turn both phones off. Swap SIM card. Turn new phone on. Done.)

I've been using the z70 for about 3 days now. I have the US, 16/512 version. Black. This phone is absolutely amazing. What a HUGE jump from the z60. The bezels are the thinnest I've ever seen. It's crazy. The selfie camera is 99.8% invisible. The UDC on the z60 was VERY noticable (I own one). Not on the z70. I'm not a big selfie guy because well, I'm not a 14 year old girl and contrary to popular belief, I'm not "this" close to being the next tiktok star (for any of you older than 14 and think you are...time to grow up). So a selfie cam means nothing to me. Hide it. Give me a full screen. The z70 nails it. The screen is very bright. The phone is unbelievably fast. I haven't had a heat issue yet. The battery is huge. I've was on this heavy for 2 days and only charged the batt once...for 15min. The rear cams are amazing. Unless you're taking pics for a professional reason (of which you should be using a 'real' camera) then you'll be extremely happy with the pic quality. I love this phone. I'll be in this one for years. This one is a keeper. I'm 100x happier with the 70 than the 60. This is a mega upgrade from the 60. If you're on the fence about this one, and you don't need to take 1000 selfies a day like a teenager trying to impress other teenagers, take it from an actual user/owner and not these clowns who don't even have the phone and are just guessing or posting their comments to see their name on the internet... This is a bad ride. I'd 100% recommend it.

Secondly, the adapter gets hot and drains the phone's battery quicker. Thirdly, it's way easier for the adapter to lose connection from the USB-C port than having the audio device plugged directly in a 3.5mm port.

So on all other sites except gsmarena.. the z70ultra battery endurance test ranks highest/amongst the highest vs other phones. Yet somehow on gsmarena it performs just good. Something is wrong here. I believe they tested a preproduction unit with beta software most likely. Please do a re-test .
