Fragjul, 09 Feb 2025Agree, and it would be good to know which browser is used b... moreBy the way, GSMArena have now changed their 'Active Use' battery score for all three S25 variants 'following further retesting', whatever that means...so now the base S25 scores 13:09h, which is only around 1 and a 1/4 hours less than the S25+.

mtu, 09 Feb 2025Source?Read it on reddit, I have no link with official info unfortunately.

Fragjul, 09 Feb 2025Agree, and it would be good to know which browser is used b... moreI asked GSMArena what browser they use, and they said Chrome, for all their battery tests. So maybe that does indeed have an affect on the battery life and in part explains why Tom's Guide found the battery life to be better, as they used Samsung Internet. So it might be better for the end user to use Samsung Internet over Chrome if they want to prioritise battery life.

I am very happy with my s25 256gb. I come from an s21 FE and that is a big step to an s25. Great introductory price whore in the Netherlands also a 256gb for the price of a 128gb.
plus a €100 discount after registration via email on a new s25 series. In combination with a mobile contract the price is
really good. only €550 euros (after deduction temporary €100 discount)

Initially had this device deleted because I thought it was in an unaffordable category, but nothing could be further from the truth.

It is fast, very fast. 0.0 stutter. screen is more than fine, and the battery just works very well. It is light and not too big.

It is a very big disappointement indeed. Will hold my S23 for sure. Samsung is disppointing. May see the Xiaomi 15 if it arrives in Europe at fair price.

Fragjul, 09 Feb 2025Agree, and it would be good to know which browser is used b... moreTrue, Tom's Guide use the default browser, which I presume is Samsung Internet on the S25? Not sure what GSMArena use though.

mtu, 08 Feb 2025Nah that makes zero sense whatsoever. So you're saying... moreAgree, and it would be good to know which browser is used by each websites.
Does tomsguide use Chrome or Opera for all? Default browser varying by manufacturer?
                        What about GSM Arena?
I am pretty sure this would explain why results differ so much between tests for S25.
i.e. Samsung Internet Browser is likely more optimized for Samsung devices (logical but the browser is never mentioned in battery tests).

[deleted post]I think optimization is actually playing a big role. Look how iPhone 16 performs so much better than S24/S25 with a smaller battery. Granted, different systems but the chips, screens and modem cannot be that different.

Active, 08 Feb 2025That list doesn't relate to youtube reviewers. What is... moreThat list is from tomguide.com, testing battery life while web browsing. I already linked to the source in a previous comment. Here it is again:

                                    https://www.tomsguide.com/us/smartphones-best-battery-life,review-2857.html

YouTube reviewers generally don't perform tests like this under the same conditions for every phone (as GSMArena do), so you can't compare all phones they've reviewed like this.

So you're saying tomsguide.com (the second-largest consumer technology, news and review site from the US by the way), is just making up random battery life times for all the phones it reviews? And they're being paid by Samsung to put the S25 Ultra in 8th and the S25 in 14th in their list of top performers (see below)? But Apple isn't paying them to get the iPhone 16 Pro (which has a 120Hz display by the way, not 60Hz) in this list? But hold on, Apple is paying them to put the 16 Pro Max in 7th, higher than the S25 Ultra??

What utter nonsense people spout on here...The differences between the battery results from Tom's Guide and GSMArena can actually be explained by different test conditions - the former is tested over a cell connection at 150nits brightness, whereas the latter is tested over over WiFi in Airplane mode at 200nits brightness. I think the former is more applicable to end users as most people don't use Airplane mode that much and would be more likely to have access to a power socket if they were connected to WiFi, so knowing battery life on a cell connection is more useful to most when they're out and about, away from a power socket.
