    xslvrxslwt, 19 Apr 2025That's what I'm telling you - my FX7U has way bet... moreIt may depend on what images you are looking at and where was the focus. There are a couple of same images, like the one with nature in which you can clearly see the benefit of shooting 26mp, respectively 50mp.

    Below I've attached example from GSMarena: left 12,5mp zoomed at 200%, center 50mp at 100%, right at 26mp zoomed at 140%.

    My observation is that shooting at 26mp brings no penalty what so ever, it's better to leave the camera at that default resolution.
    Shooting at 50mp can bring extra details but good technique together with non fast moving subjects are required for optimal performance.

    You see much more of a difference in you Oppo find X7 Ultra because, Oppo didn't do such a good job with the 12,5 mp files to start with as it did in the Find X8 Ultra. I know, because I have that phone also.

    My concern is with the strange artifacts found on street lights at 70mm sensor at night and car headlights on both the 23mm and 70mm sensors. Maybe a future software will remedy the situation.

In reality though based on the past none will be better in all areas. Each will have strengths and weaknesses as always. This, the Xiaomi 15 ultra, the Vivo x200 ultra, and the P80 ultra will all be very good but will also have different styles. A lot will boil down to personal preference in terms which style and focal lengths you prefer

          Comapring 12MP to 25MP here - 25MP is rather fuzzy and soft all around, having 2x less details on 6x pics.

          So it probably needs 3-4 extra months of OTAs to make it like FX8U, and yet again we have to trust OEMs that they will actually give us what we want with OTAs (even when it's actually supposed to work like that).

            it's a good phone and he's entitled to his opinions just like you are to yours. Apart from the upcoming X200 Ultra nothing TRULY beats this phone. Xiaomi's too inconsistent to topple this.

              Such a shame that this & the vivo ultra are not global.

              It's between the Xiaomi 15 Ultra or the S25 Ultra for most standard flagship users.

                      Worse battery life, worse UI, less software updates, not released in other countries and barely any better battery even though its 1000mah more.

                      Its a flop simple as that unless you want it for cameras.

                                  Eh, it's not like real telephoto lenses don't operate the same way. Unless you attach some sort of macro converter, I don't think there exists any telephoto lens that focuses very close.

                                    1157 nits in auto mode is pretty disappointing for what's supposed to be an "Ultra" phone. It's been like this since last year's Ultra, and neither of those got as bright as the X6 Pro and X8 Pro. Meanwhile Vivo's been using OLED panels that get 700 nits brighter than what Oppo's been using. That's a pretty stark difference and you'll quickly want those 700 nits when you're trying to use your phone (with no special anti-reflective glass like GGA) outside while the sun is right above you

                                      Great review as always. The camera bump looks way way better than Vivo X200 Ultra. If this phone were made available everywhere, I would get it.

                                        xslvrxslwt, 18 Apr 2025OK I've finished camera samples..and man..does it suck... moreThe samples that GSMArena posted suggest that Find X8 Ultra's main camera in indoor is at least on par with Find X7 Ultra as far as the details are concerned, and markedly better in low light. There are more textures are to be seen on the former's photos. Not to mention, FX8U seems to have an actual 50MP JPEG mode which captures more details than the 12MP counterpart - FX7U's "50MP" was literally just an upscaled 12MP unless you shoot in RAW IIRC.

                                        We definitely need a comparison between the 25MP mode on both phones, though. I remember it was having a very positive impact on detail rendition on FX7U, but it seems borderline indistinguishable from the 12MP mode on FX8U.
