Yes it's extremely annoying doing a lot of things if you're not in an Apple ecosystem but if you are in one, the Apple is a far superior deal.

      there seems 2 dishonesties as always it does... (1) The keep in focus looks only for videos ... watched all Ads and none show it for photos.. i.e. will i still have to keep one hand on volume up/down to zoom in out as the subject is walking, jogging towards me?????? (2) The bravia Ads seems to show the the screen in those particular frames as broader 16:9 ish ratio to add false punch .. whereas it is a candy-bar ~20:9 phone and can be felt same in all other frames and other Ads... Can someone apply video forensics on those frames where it is labeling as Bravia ???? thanks!!

        Let's try to analyze all that a bit:
        There seem no overarching concept or goal, as Sony Mobile's investements in R&D seem to nbe limited, rather relying on the other Sony departments' work: Camera tech borrowed from Sony imaging/camera division. Screen powered by Bravia. Audio tuned by Walkman, Not sure if gaming received some input from the PLaystation department.
        Now, many small good pieces are not enough to make a great big picture. And this is exactely where we are with the Xony Xperia 1 line. They even abandoned own software and rely on (near) stock Android, the only exception being the camera/video app. But heck, they even stopped updating ther Gallery app. forcing people to use Google Photos,. which from a data- and privacy -protection perspective is just a nightmare.
        In my opinion, this is the main reason why Sony Xperia leaves so many people wanting.
        Everybody sees the huge potential and the brilliance in so many details. But year after year, many more people are disappointed because they do not see what direction Xperia / Sony Mobile is heading to and if Sony even wants their mobile division being successful or not.

          no more 4K 120 screen, maybe because they realized that the performance not satisfactory. Also in PS5 😂

            How come we don't hear this line for iPhone review? Apple will do what Apple does, their iPhone 16 Max pro is even slower charging in 30 mins and from 0-100 and their battery capacity is not even 5000mah.

              Can gsmarena clarify about the battery? And the loudness? Why the huge downgrades in performance!?

              Everything else seems like nice iterative upgrades, including the Walkman like quality.

The remaining 20% can be easily avoidabe by using the card carefully.

                    At this price the Xperia doesn't offer anything special (other than holeless screen, front facing speakers, SD card slot and 3.5mm jack) and the short software support for the price. Yeah not gona buy this.

                      Sd card slot and 3.5 jack... this is what chronically online randos call the "perfect" phone but no one buys them. What a sad little closed world they live in. Why don't they find something better to do than hating on phones and stuffs that real and functional members of society consider good and reasonable?

                          I don't see the reason for this years bump except for a new ultrawide sensor and some very minute hardware changes compared to others. They also didn't provide a 1440p screen which is bare minimum for Android phones in that price range. Don't say that 1080p is better than 1440p or for power efficiency. They can give an option ro toggle between 1080p and 1440p. The telephoto sensor is abysmal compared to the competition for that price.

                          Also software features from new generation are not passsed on to older generation in Sony. So people are forced to buy a new phone if they need new feature and is a disservice to loyal old customers. Samsung makes sure that features are passed to other devices as well.

But not in Switzerland (my country) or Italy yet. Fortunately, the Sony France, Germany, and Austria websites list it as June 12th. So either an online store will import it, or I'll have it delivered to an acquaintance in a neighboring country.

                                        Asher45, 21 hours agoI'm not saying it isn't better, but it isn't... moreI understand that it's not enough for you, it's your choice and it's completely fine. But my point is that there are still differences, they're big enough AND they're in crucial points, like you mentioned, in charging and battery.

                                        And again, dont look at the specs, look at the real world differences. Compare the 15 min and 30 min charge times as well. It all just adds up man.

                                        I understand that you're not an enthusiast or a power user, you do you man, but these small little details give huge pros to other phones and all add up. If a dude didnt really need any of this stuff he can just use a midranger. That's just how most users are, they'd be perfectly fine with midrangers but just use flagships cus "flagship gud!".

                                        You do you bud but just cus you dont understand/dont want something better doesnt mean others dont. It's not really "overblown"
