jiyen235, 15 May 2025lmao now that's a huge diss and actually you're r... moreiphones are that bad if you want to sideload apps like newpipe or modded gcam or use a custom rom or root but this sony phone isn't good either. you clearly are not an android user.

Asher45, 14 May 2025I'm not saying it isn't better, but it isn't... moreI understand that it's not enough for you, it's your choice and it's completely fine. But my point is that there are still differences, they're big enough AND they're in crucial points, like you mentioned, in charging and battery.
And again, dont look at the specs, look at the real world differences. Compare the 15 min and 30 min charge times as well. It all just adds up man.
I understand that you're not an enthusiast or a power user, you do you man, but these small little details give huge pros to other phones and all add up. If a dude didnt really need any of this stuff he can just use a midranger. That's just how most users are, they'd be perfectly fine with midrangers but just use flagships cus "flagship gud!".
You do you bud but just cus you dont understand/dont want something better doesnt mean others dont. It's not really "overblown"

Quite disappointed with the battery performance. Sony is never known for energy efficiency

3.5mm, microSDXC, finally 1080p, and all flagship essentials, and there you have it...
My favourite Sony phone that unfortunately... (you guessed it!), will never launch in my country. Sad.

One phone a year and extremely overpriced. They were happy to leave the same old 12mp telephoto lens in there from the last model.

I have no idea how Sony has survived this long in the smartphone space. I just looked at the price of this and on their UK main website it's £1,399.00!
This is absolutely ridiculous! They've made some good phones but there are major compromises compared to the competition and the price is always way to expensive.
You can get an iPhone 16 Pro Max with 512gb of storage for the same price. I'd rather go with the iPhone than this and I'm an android user who uses a Nothing 2a!!!!

Please sony make the next 5 and 10 variants wider in width! This is a great phone if one is willing to spend that much money on a phone.

Just for anyone for cares why a lot of people get put off with SD/mSD cards and some information on how to keep them in good health if you rely on them:-
"eMMC storage, a common type of flash memory found in devices like smartphones and laptops, can experience several issues, primarily due to its limited write cycles and inherent limitations compared to other storage technologies like SSDs. A common problem is eMMC wear and failure, which can lead to data loss, boot issues, or complete device malfunction.
Common Issues with eMMC:
eMMC Wear and Failure:
Flash memory has a limited number of write cycles. Excessive writing, especially in applications like logging, can lead to eMMC wear and eventual failure, where bits become unreliable.
Fragmentation:
As files are added, deleted, and modified, the eMMC storage can become fragmented, leading to slower data retrieval times.
Non-Upgradeable:
eMMC storage is often soldered onto the motherboard, making it difficult or impossible to replace when it fails.
Capacity Limitations:
eMMC storage capacities are typically lower than SSDs, and they may be difficult or impossible to upgrade.
Speed Limitations:
eMMC storage can be slower than SSDs or NVMe drives, particularly when dealing with large files or intensive tasks.
Power Issues:
Some users have reported issues with eMMC related to power cycles, especially during writing operations.
Corrupted Filesystems:
If a power failure occurs during a write operation, the filesystem can become corrupted, potentially making the drive unusable.
Device Malfunction:
A failing eMMC can lead to various issues, including device restarts, freezing, or boot problems.
Error Codes:
In some cases, eMMC failures can be associated with specific error codes, such as error code 160-0103 on Nintendo Wii U.
Mitigation Strategies:
Reducing Writes:
Minimize unnecessary logging and other processes that heavily write to the eMMC.
Optimizing Filesystems:
Use file systems that are more resistant to corruption and fragmentation.
External Storage:
Utilize external SSDs or SD cards for storing large files or frequently accessed data, reducing the load on the eMMC.
Regular Maintenance:
Perform regular system checks and maintenance tasks, such as defragmentation, to optimize eMMC performance.
Monitoring eMMC Health:
Use tools to monitor eMMC health and lifespan to identify potential problems early.
P.s Sony phones seem a lot better than the 2010's, if they were a bit cheaper (to atleast get more people interested, people will choose iPhone or galaxy phone at that price point) and in more markets with regular and on time updates they would make a great choice (plus if you enjoy/your job editing media then they seem to have good software suite for you too). Obviously being in the Sony ecosystem will help too (maybe with playstation, Sony headphones, Sony TVs and professional cameras etc).

Anonymous, 13 May 2025here you are, you represent the typical example of the post... moreHere you are, the typical example of ignorance when someone presents something they don't like, they can't add anything smart so just type comments like yours to get likes, kek.
SD card tech can get hacked even if sitting in your phone, people can access your phone remotely, it's seen as a drive on your device so bye bye data, every time you connect to WiFi or log on to a website, that data is also at threat lol. Also you don't want companies having your data yet you're using a smart phone, probably have a pc or laptop or tablet, probably a smart TV, irony at its best.
Also emmc memory is volatile so is a known issue of breaking all the time.
The hacking and volatile memory are facts, like it or not (I never said don't use SD tech btw, just explained cloud is a very useable storage option with benefits over SD but you do you).

jiyen235, 14 May 2025have you seen Phonebuff/The Tech Chap/any other phone batte... moreI'm not saying it isn't better, but it isn't enough to matter (to me). Differences in active use times (on GSM), was just 30 minutes between the V x200 pro and s25u. The best in the Phone Buff android battery test was the Vivo x200 pro, with 2 hours longer active use than the s25u. Would you expect more or less than that when the battery is 1000mAh higher? The results seem on target with the increased size. It SHOULD beat the S25, iphone, etc, right?
You make good points. Still - Charge time of the huawei pura 70 at 100w charging was only 11 minutes faster than the S25u. Its a W for the Huawei but is that a reason to buy? Much fuss here about 45w IN 2025?!? when a simple spec win on paper doesn't mean much in real world use.
Fair point - 'optimization' is a funny way to describe reducing performance.
I'm not a power user so I likely wouldn't notice that or need 2+ hours of active use time.
Anything that spurs some creativity and competition is only going to benefit the consumer. (as long as it doesn't start and end with this 'slim' fad setting in on us) That includes battery size, optimization, and active use - I just think its all little overblown (right now) by different FANBOYS🤭 at this point.
