Nokia E63 review: E for Economy

07 January 2009
Nokia E63 is the next QWERTY messenger by Nokia, set on the glorious path of the E71. Only this time it slips off the high heels to walk it in plain straight and simple boots instead. And the matching price tag leaves little doubt of what this Working Joe here is all about...

Alpesh Patel (Chovat, 01 May 2009hi! friends, i just told to all that the E63 is nice and ve... moreYou need to improve on your english vocabluary and language as the vocabulary used didnt make any sense. for instance the word 'batter' in the english language actually translates into the meaning of :"a liquid mixture of flour, milk, and eggs used in making cakes, pancakes, and puddings, and for coating foods before frying" it is very dissapointing that a person doesnt take time to actually read what he is distributing among the forum. the word 'better' should have been used , moreover the rest of your opinion contained large amounts of errors , which made it harder to understand your opinion. all you really need to say guys is that the nokia e63 is a good phone , which contains delicate features which gives it the authority of a good phone. thank you

You wont be able to use it as a music player. Unfortunately the sound is just terrible. Same goes for the camera. On the other it does redeem itself with the email messaging which is easy to set-up and use.
Overall, it does what it says on the box but don't expect more. Anything in particular you had in mind?

You can barely hear the person on the other side of the call on your E63 even when the speaker volume is full. If in traffic or crowded areas it gets impossible to hear the other person. Extremely pathetic considering the fact that been able to hear the other person is the most basic thing we expect from any phone

I'm planning to purchase this mobile this Sunday. After reading the review and hearing negative comments about it being corrupt etc, I'm having second thoughts, however, I will still be purchasing this. Hopefully, it'll be great for my use and money. As someone said, it's hard earned money, I'm still young so it took me a long while to earn how much I did.

I don't mind the camera too much, but definitely would be better if at the least it could capture correct colours and lower the noise. The main problem I'm worrying about is it turning off at random times. If possible, can anyone tell me how common this is?

I'm also planning to watch videos on the phone, is it possible to make the video resolution larger by scaling it to fit the phone size? I hope this phone isn't a disappointment.

I'm purchasing this, rather than a good multimedia phone is that this device has Wi-Fi which is a major boost in this phone, in my personal opinion.

I had a very very BAD experience with this phone. I bought my phone and broke the seal. Since then, I cannot here the calls properly ...further the phone switches off when I press the upper part of the handset.
What added to my amazement is that I was not the only person who was sick of the manufacturing defects..there were many at nokia service center. Some of them had a restart problem, one case was similar to me. I am pissed off with Nokia. When I pay so much of money I do not expect the phone to have a manufacturing defect. What king of quality the Nokia is maintaining. I made a real big mistake after buying this phone. I think I should have bought a blackberry instead. I don't understand why these phones are made in China (which is popularly known for violating the quality norms)

Funny people are always complaining, no one cares about what kind of phone u prefer, or wat your taste is, if u dont like it, then dont complain, and no one care's if you have a E71 or E63.

If i would sell $20 for $10, people are still complaining.

                                So get a life,

All I can say about this phone is WOW! It doesn't stop surprising me with the things it can do.

It has replaced my mp3 player - and it's better, since I can just keep adding tunes to bigger microSD(HC) cards as I want to expand. It plays movies in iPod format with ZERO problems. The calendar rocks. The contacts are easy to use and add all sorts of detail to. And with Quick Office's free update, I have Word and Excel (and Power Point, but I never use it) reading, creation, and editing in the palm of my hand.

Performance is snappy. The only crashes I've experienced were with internet radio stations, and I think that was more to do with the selected stations, because certain ones will crash it EVERY time.

If you have Bluetooth on your computer, it's fantastic for transferring files, although nowhere NEAR as fast as putting the microSD card into a card reader. Also, being in radio, it's great to be able to pair the phone wirelessly with our Bluetooth enabled remote mixer. Nothing short of awesome!!

If I had to pick a couple of beefs with it, one would be the rubber plug for the headset/headphones. There's no excuse for that not to be attached. None at all. Two would be that you can't listen to FM radio on it without having headphones attached. I get that there is no built-in antenna, and it uses the headphone cord as the antenna ... but really. What would it have cost to coil some wire inside the body of the phone for FM?? It would rock to have FM over the loudspeaker like the music player does.

Oh, and like many others, I also get that fuzzy sound in the headset that sounds like a cranked up amp with nothing playing. But it's not TOO bad, and I can certainly live with it.

LOVE this phone, recommend it to anyone, anywhere. Just too bad it doesn't have the E71's built-in GPS. That would be cool.
