So putting a lower camera and a pathetic 15fps video after Omnia HD is a good idea??? Hello! Is anybody in there??

Anonymous, 17 Jun 2009Yes WM can handle 16.7m but it doesn't because the battery ... moreOf course more specs need more power, but thats not the main problem with 16 Mio. colour mode in mobile devices cause increase of logical resources are major compared to physical resources. As i explained it before, 24 Bit/pixel (RGB 888) will need 2x increased frambuffer size and Busspeed. So devices with 256 MB Ram will generally run in 16 Bit mode, that´s for sure

vasra, 18 Jun 2009So, it has 164MB of RAM, c. 100MB free for running programs... moreLike you, I definitely think with the given specs of the game that this "Mario 2" can be skipped.

            Mario 3, it is.

vasra, 18 Jun 2009So, it has 164MB of RAM, c. 100MB free for running programs... moreYeah, it seems like Samsung is starting a sequel like Nintendo.

It is like the orignal Mario. It comes later with Mario 2, Mario 3, then Super Mario, Mario Galaxy, Paper Mario, Mario Party,..., Mario Party 8, Mario DS,..., Mario with Donkey Kong...

The best one is Super Smash Omnia...uh sorry... I mean Super Smash Bros!!! Dig it.

So, it has 164MB of RAM, c. 100MB free for running programs?

If so, it's not nearly enough for a high end business phone.

                TP2 has 288MB of RAM.

It's sad that Samsung has not put enough memory in this device, worth the nice screen and the powerful CPU.

Ah well, there's always the next year's Omnia III.

Although some of what you are saying may be right, the overall of what you are saying is totally incorrect!

I have tested the Samsung T929 Memoir 8MP camera. The 5MP from the Omnia i900 cannot be compared to the 8MP.

I don't care how much the sensor can be improved in the i8000 on the 5MP, there is no way to get such clarity when you start zooming (unless you go optical).

The 12MP may start to be some hype for some because most regular shooters will not edit picture at such level.

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2009Do you even have to ask about the stereo speakers question?... moreActually. 12MP camera phones are marketing gimmicks designed to ask you to pay more money. Savy consumers will demand their favourtie phone manufacturer to focus on the sensor not the MP count. What next a 24MP camera phone? For what gains moving from 12MP to 24MP other than bigger file sizes? Nothing. Give me a better sensor at 5MP over a bad sensor at 12MP because the sensor affects a lot of things, but primarily because the biggest benefit from using better sensors are low light shots. Go figure. Ever tried taking low-light shots with a camera phone? Chances are the difference in quality lies in the flash rather than the MP count. In other words, 12MP vs 8MP vs 5MP in camera phones are affected more by flash than the MP count. So why not say 5MP, which would get me as good as 8MP in good lighting, but a better sensor than 8MP so my low light shots become better.. Seriosly anyone serious with phone cameras should at least read up a bit on digital cameras and how they work. I'm no pro but I know enough to get by.

I tried it at Communicasia in Singapore. It's a responsive little thing. No lags while sweeping across screens unlike LGs displayed. Didn't spend much time on it and first time using a touchscreen phone so UI feels a bit quirky. But it should be easy to learn.

future Omnia II owne, 16 Jun 200965k colordepth (16 Bit)limitation is neither due to Windows... moreYes WM can handle 16.7m but it doesn't because the battery will run flat very very quickly. Its an architecture problem. It's not a processor or memory limitation. Putting 1024MB dedicated video RAM only improves performance not battery life. If the screen runs 16.7m colours, the battery will simply go flat very quickly. That's why WM devices don't display 16.7m. Its an architecture problem. So short of a WM device having like 5,000maH rated batteries, its not worthwhile allowing anything more than 65k colours. Just as an example, if WM runs at 256 colours, you will extend the phone's battery. And as you gradually increse the pallette, the battery life diminishes.

Hopefully Someone from Gsmarena can ask Samsung if this phone will be 5 or 8 megapixel or both, different camera for different countrys.

I have the current Omnia (i900) and I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on this model. It looks great and a worthy successor. I wonder if it has the digital compass that would seem to be on the Jet.

Why are the widgets so massive on the touchwiz look at the weather icon it takes over 1/4 of the screen that is way to big the widgets need to be reduced in size to the same size as the ones on SPB mobile shell 3.

We want proper reduced sized Widgets Now, or the option to reduce the size.

I especially have read many posts about that screen and direct sun light - it is unreadable. I will never again buy that kind of ... Enough.
I simply want to see ALWAYS dial-pad buttons and face of who is calling.

                                        Thanks.
