Anonymous, 16 Jun 2009I might be a bit off tech wise, but can you explain to me w... moreDo you even have to ask about the stereo speakers question???

Because everyone knows the answer, including yourself!

Sure, a headphone will produce better sound, but in certain condition, I am sure that you would like to play music without a headphone. The current Omnia has decent sound with 1 speaker, but sticking with 1 speaker on the next Omnia is @ss backward when the i8910 does have stereo speakers.

Furthermore, not having an 8MP camera is a major turn down. There are plenty of 8MP phones now, and the 12MP has just started this year. So with the absence of some major hardware upgrades, which having stereo speakers is a really easy hardware upgrade by the manufacturer, this next "successor" of the Omnia named "Omnia II" is just a Slim Jim with light calorie.

I firmly believe that with such specs on the Omnia II that it is not the next generation of the current Omnia i900, but just a recession sell off with really minor tweaks.

We might as well keep the i900 and wait to get the new widgets put in in our phone. There is really not much difference.

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2009Most probably not. The reason why its limited to 65k is the... more65k colordepth (16 Bit)limitation is neither due to Windows Mobile nor the Graphic/Display Unit. WM can natively deal with 16,7 Mio. colors (24 Bit)as it is a 32 Bit OS. 24Bit or 32 Bit Colordepth will need a bigger framebuffer and faster Bustransfer to the CPU or GPU otherwise u will expericence significant collapse of the framerate(performance. The main reason why most handsets are limitated @16Bit is just due to the limitted Memorysize of 256MB or the lack of dedicated VRAM for a fast and bigger Framebuffer. U can compare todays Mobilephone hardware with Desktop PCs of 1995,24 Bit colordepth was also extra ordinary

Paul, 15 Jun 2009Windows 6.1 so only 65k colours does Win mobile 6.5 let you... moreMost probably not. The reason why its limited to 65k is the WM architecture. Something to do with it being 32 bit and touch screen which would make higher colour palette too energy consuming. I'm not sure why but short of WM7 being 90% new code, I think the 65k limits would remain.

Hmm this makes planning a real pain. I had my eyes set on the Touch Diamond 2 when the price drops in a few months. But this 3.7" Omnia2 is making me think again. About the only bad thing is the dongle stylus mostly because of the way I use my phones. Still investing in a good pouch or leather casing might help. So Touch Diamond 2 or Omina2. Omnia2 packs a better processor and much bigger screen. On the other hand, HTC has well HTC's name I guess.

Anonymous, 16 Jun 2009No 8MP camera. Ok, let's say that the 5MP is still doable. ... moreI might be a bit off tech wise, but can you explain to me what are the advantages of stereo speakers other than it being stereo? I can't seem to think of any benefits since for music, most likely using a stereo headphones.

No 8MP camera. Ok, let's say that the 5MP is still doable.

But no stereo sound! Man, this is the worst offer I have ever heard on earth as a successor of the Omnia i900.

This is definitely a no go with this "beta" specs.

Let me put it this way. My last HTC had stereo sound, and that was at least 2 years ago. Samsung is definitely not advancing with WM phones!!! Mediocre offer.

But i think its a good samsung move because each omnia has been tailored to fit all finances, techno need and gender even.
