Why Camera Quality of Samsung Innov8 is better than Nokia N86: (Base on this preview sample)
1. You can clearly see all the wording at Innov8 in 1st photo but not the N86.
2. The flower in Innov8 is more sharp in details focus where it ready blur out the rest especially the floor. N86 didn't blur out enough which you still can clearly seen the floor line. Macro is mean for only focus the main object but not others surrounding it.
3. Overall Nokia N86 produce less sharpen and details image when compared with Innov8.
The only good point of N86 camera lens v/s Innov8:
1. More wide angle which snap more object on it but no point if the image is blur.
2. Maybe the color seems more natural but it looks more dull as well.

kkkk, 19 Jun 2009innov8 clearly wins the camera competition, but n86 is ok, ... moreAgree. N86 image quality is not ready good. Not sure why last time got a magazine can rate it the best 8Megapixel camera.
From the sample, it is among the worst compared with Innov8, i8910HD, Ultra Touch, Pixon, Renoir & C905.
My rank of 8 Megapixel image quality:
1. Samsung Innov8
2. Samsung i8910HD
3. Samsung Ultra Touch
4. Samsung Pixon
5. LG Renoir
6. Sony Ericsson C905
7. Nokia N86
+ the design and function is not much different with N85. If you own N85 before, not worth to upgrade. If you want a decent 8Megapixel camera phone, this is not a choice as well.

nokia should first of all stop creating phones which are based on the N81's design and styling. I feel that the NSeries had a sharp fall in terms of popularity and fans since the N81's inception and the follow up of such phones. In fact all through 05, 06 and 07 ( till the N95 8gb) the NSeries was considered as one of the greatest mobile revolutions to have ever taken place. And now? All the NSeries can be associated with is boring, highly conservative and repetitive phones. Wake Up Nokia!!!!!!! You're competion is on its way to dethrone you from you're position market leader......

Hagar, 19 Jun 2009Keep up GSMarena, the phone will be the 1st device to launc... moreDude, repeat after me, "no-LED-flash-is-as-efficient-as-a-xenon-one"! LED bulbs are just unable to produce such large outbursts of light in mere miliseconds. So just forget about "freezing" subjects and getting comparable amounts of light to those produced by a xenon flash with an LED one.
I'm trying not to sound like a fanboy, but my C905's xenon flash can easily light up a whole room. LED flashes can't do that.

Hagar, 19 Jun 2009Keep up GSMarena, the phone will be the 1st device to launc... moreI think a full blown Tomtom on a phone is a far better form of navigation... Gotta say rather disappointed with camera quality, promised so much but was completely outshone there in the comparison with INNOV8... Expected more because I thought Nokia had the right idea. 8MP is plenty, but focus on lens quality and that sort of thing was unheard of till this and they've blown it... Hopefully someone comes out with a better idea.

pictures look great.
however, i think the camera reviews would be better suited if there was a comparison with a top of the line stand-alone camera. that way i could figure which has the more natural colors in comparison. to me it seems that the n86 took a more natural picture of the flower, but what would i know.

Keep up GSMarena, the phone will be the 1st device to launch Nokia Maps 3.0 or as its now know Ovi Maps 3.0 which truely pioneers mobile phone navigation.
The phone also has a 3rd generation LED flash which in testing was comparable in brightness to that of a Sony Cybershot Xenon (in there phones).
Along with in built FM transmitter, internal 8GB and HSUPA.

Another thing to note about 28mm lens on Panorama shots.....
Since 28mm is wider lens, it will cause warping at the sides of the image. And panoramic photos are trying to merge serveral still shots together, the photos will try to overlap 2 warped edges together, which will have an odd effect.
This effect is seen in 35mm lens too, but it'll be more apparent in a wider lens.
Sure you'll see more, but there'll be less detail, and more warping.
