Before buying Nokia 5530, check this link… it is recommended to wait till Nokia releases the latest firmware.
http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&thread.id=156140&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
I wish Nokia will justify its delay in releasing this phone in India after fixing all those bugs discussed in the above discussion board.
Does anyone know when will it be available in Indian stores?

Now that 5530 is out and a lot of people are proudly displaying it, can anyone give any detail regarding the battery life? I am a heavy phone user, plus I surf the net a lot. It would really help me to decide about 5530 vs 5580.

Hello, I have read some of you reviews here, and have an opinion considering this articel, that I want to share with you. It is about the camera of this mobile phone. I watched your sample video, and of course- in fullscreen you see artifacts, but if we think about dedicated camera-cellphones like my Sony Ericsson K770i, which records videos at QCIF (176 × 144) or the SE K850i at QVGA, we should go down on the knees and be thankfull, that such a powerfull cellphone and allrounder also supports VGA-Videos! My k770i videos are bad quality, even if i watch then in a small window mode, you know? Best regards and thanks for your good reviews, stephan!

Anonymous, 27 Sep 2009dude you really dont know what you're talking about.
if ... more"as for contact selecting for sending msgs you have checkboxes."
that's what I meant. why do you need checkboxes when most of the time you only send text message to ONE person.
the checkboxes would have been better implemented in the file list, or message list, or where there are lists. so you don't have to go to the 'Option' menu to select multiple items.
I know about the S60 software, been using that for years. But I also have used SE UIQ (aging and now dead) and Windows Mobile (equally old), and my OBJECTIVE opinion is that S60 sucks.
and please don't start comparing that to newer OS (smart or otherwise) from Apple, Samsung, and LG. It reminds of of Windows 3.1 (yes, I'm at that age :D).

if you dont like the built-in file explorer you have so many other programs that do that job.
as for contact selecting for sending msgs you have checkboxes.

Oh well.... I guess we can't expect a company from a hardware backgroud to actually care about the software stuff.

Does the phone supports multi-touch? Personally I feel multi-touch is important especially when comes to surfing web via the browser. i dun like the double tap thingy to zoom in.
Think i will not go for this phone. Rather get the HTC Hero than this nokia-symbian phones....

The S60 file manager is a joke. To select a file you:
select the file
click options
select mark/unmark from the popup menu
select mark from the fly out menu
that's 4 clicks to select a file. And if you have 10 files to select?
UIQ had checkboxes with lists that you just check tick to select an item.
And where does S60 have checkboxes? It's when you select recipients for you text message.
So to send a message you:
Select new message
click on button to open contacts(does not even have a list of most used contacts, so you have to search every time)
you tick the checkbox next to the name
press ok to return
So how many times out of 100 do you send to MULTIPLE recipients when texting?
Why not select the contact by pressing it then go back to your text editing.
Text editing? Sorry, you still have to tap the screen to go into edit mode.
It's a good thing that Nokia hardware specs outweigh the aging S60.
But I still wish UIQ did not go belly up.

been using the phone for like 3 weeks now .. and yes it works really good .. about the camera its decent for that price .. and the touch screen have a good fast response .. only matters that its brigtness . its a little low in sunlight .. sound quality is really superb .. for me it dont matter lacking 3G features or Gps (as long as wi-fi works great)
So... yea that mobile phone is perfect one for that price tag + it's design is unique
