richee, 10 Sep 2009AMOLED is best in dark condition but under direct sunlight ... moreSorry couldn't agree with you. In a recent article about display comparison we have seen how OLED performs indoor, at night and under direct sunlight. AMOLED has no match in indoor or at dark. Yes under direct sunlight it didn't perform well like iPhone but NOT WORST as you are saying. For instance symbian OmniaHD or Andriod Galaxy performed better than their winmo counterpart. So I assume OS has to do with display as well. One issue with AMOLED is that it doesn't work with light reflective layer which could improve it's sunlight legibility like LCD displays. Development is going on in this regard. So it will be wrong to outright say it's not perfect for mobile display. It is best as of now. Otherwise, over at Samsung they won't be predicting AMOLED to capture 50% of all mobile display in coming days.

It is suprising that SE has neglected further development of its excellent java os, and chosen this operating system in urgent need of transformation for its flagship device. Given the rapid changing nature of the smart phone market and the ever increasing ease of interoperability such as other operating systems being able to handle MSoffice files and vice versa desktop windows being able to handle content produced by various mobile operating systems, unless windows mobile changes to become an efficient os geared for mobile devices its future is uncertain. Indeed in the medium term microsoft may decide to abandon it and concentrate on desktop pc os windows where it is strongest. This device could well be SE's last windows mobile device as Android and Symbian will prove far more lucrative for the company.

Given that Microsoft is also supposed to launch Windows 7 O.S. next month, I personally think that it is wiser to upgrade a PC rather than a multimedia phone (i.e. if you already have a WM phone).
I guess waiting for Omnia "III" with a higher 8MP camera or an "X3" with a faster processor is definitely a smart decision for 2009.

I wish SE would release something on time. This "we have this great phone, but it will only be available in a few months time", is becoming tiring. Either you have the damn thing ready to be lauched or shut up. Then they wonder why they are loosing money...

AMOLED screens in 2009-2010 is more of a gimmick then a deal-breaker. Come-on.... when was the last time you used your current phone and thought to yourse'f, "UGH! I wish I had an AMOLED Screen!"
Probably... never.
Something to brag about... nothing extraordinary.

Same problem with X1.... Too late.. By the time this hits the shelves, everyone else will be announcing their successors to their QWERTY offerings... If no QWERTY offerings, then 3.5"+ screen devices. For a high end device, 3.2" just doesn't cut it anymore.

I don't care much about the AMOLED screen as long as there is a faster CPU than the X1.

It is actually Sony who is using Samsung manufactured LCD panels. Now sony is talking to LG for cheaper supply of panels. LOL! I had my laugh of the day! Thanks.

kevin ultra, 07 Sep 2009Im on my third experia X1 great phone but battery is dreadf... moreThats strange, can only imagine you use your phone a lot. I consider myself a moderate user and get at least a day out of my battery. That involves some wifi, surfing, fair amount of texting, several phone calls. I don't tend to use bluetooth often so perhaps that is where the drain is for you.
