Nokia N97 mini review: Less is more

12 November 2009
The Nokia army of touchscreen smartphones gets larger by the hour and the Nokia N97 mini is surely one of the most interesting new recruits. The Finnish company has obviously reconsidered its priories and now focuses on optimization, rather than expansion with its flagships...

Nokia should overhaul Symbian 5th Edition UI, cause whenever i'm reading reviews about a mobile phone which runs these OS...the word inconsistency is always there. 5th Edition is new and yet it had already become boring.

The N97 mini seems like a good phone. It has most of the features crucial to a smartphone including a 3.5mm jack (to me this is one of the most important features on a phone, as I usually leave my Ipod at home, and use my phone as an mp3 player, instead of carrying two devices). I am sure this phone will sell well because of the reduced size over its bigger brother (if you are going to carry a phone around everyday for at least a year, smaller size become a very important factor).
Once again, thank you GSM Arena for writing the best, most comprehensive, and the most balanced review of the N97 mini on the internet.

The quality of the Mini is far better comparing with original N97, I just compared today the mini fells very nice quality materials comparing with N97.
The keypad it very nice I made a test with a very long text typing, very fast without any misstakes.
Good phone only a little over priced but it's a very good phone for Symbian users.

with all due respect GSMArena guys..

u should probably do something with your loudspeaker test coz the results are no where near the actual one.. if you compare 5800 results with n97 and n97 mini results obviously 5800 lose but in reality 5800 wins all.. people complain on how soft n97's speakers are.. c'mon please be more accurate..

And even no Qwerty on screen keyboard, which is what i like the most on my present phone. Shame !!

The reviewer said it another 5 mega-pixel camera out of date, why have Nokia not changed there ideas seems very odd,as they seem to be losing buyers nowdays switching to more advanced camera mobiles,o,k they were way behind in the Touch Screen mobiles an starting to catch up now,but we want better slimmer mobiles from Nokia but the querty keypad makes the phones to wide an heavier, but why cant we have a mobile produced by nokia with the n97 body without the sliding keypad, but we will end up with another plastic mobile from Nokia i bet

Anonymous, 14 Nov 2009the review is full of spelling and grammatical errors. some... morei don know why i even bothered reading half of the review, the reviewer was probably really bored with the N97 mini anyway and i don blame him who cares about grammer and spelling mistakes if the phone's useless

Symbian S60 5th, the greatest disappointment ever, wow you've added homescreen widgets Nokia.. you gonna charge double for that?

when is the kinetic scrolling and wigdets coming to other s60 phones? my 5800 is just doing nothing pathetically laying around and its so hard to make themes for s60 5th all these 9 piece vectors; it takes 2 days of non stop effect to get a good theme

and thanks to the useless carbide preview you can't even tell what the themes gonna look like without testing it on the phone

what kind of sick joke is this?

i'm ashamed to have ever respected nokia

forget about nokia, they've certainly forgotten about us

just ignore it, delete nokia from the list on the side.

Symbian is the uglyest mobile OS.

No wonder nokia make the N900

wow Nokia, the N97 mini i'm shaking with excitement

yea the HTC Touch HD2's got nothing on the N97 mini, a resistive screen without stylus is what i want.

i love how the icons on s60 5th are incomplete and how amazing it looks, the HTC Sense ui with its weather animations on the homescreen and its flip clock are nothing compared to N97

thanks nokia, i used to be your biggest fan, great work turely industry leading technology

2009 Q4 flagship; N97 mini, yes now nokia will stay the No1 company and go even higher
