Phones like these make the consumer a winner. It has up the ante in terms of screen size, and have all the features you can possibly want in a smart phone, including the very very important 3.5mm jack and a speedy micro chip.
And that is (I have said this before) like a slice of cool from a cake of awesome.

so the whole 65k color is software problem right? so if this is thing to be running android then it would be able to display 16M colors?

I agree that windows is outdated like dinosaurs.
I bought HTC Diamond2, in 3weeks I sold it, because of its windows mobile is so lag, especially in messaging.

"If only we had that kind of hardware a couple of years ago, nobody would have even considered the iPhone seriously."
when the iphone was first introduced its hardware was below par already! the iphone 2g always lost when its hardware was compared to that of other phones! it had no 3g and a very poor camera. BUT the iphone NEVER was about HARDWARE! unfortunatly most reviewers dont get that!
its a pity you also seem to fail to recognize that.

Well now... what is it that makes HTC so damn popular, like those of iPhone fanbois?
The naming of this and its predecessor is a misnomer. HD? Where and what is HD about it? The camera is a mere 5 mpx, which is at least 4 years old. Not only is it not HD-capable, the images taken are not on par with the other handsets with 5 mpx camera.
Okay... may be it is the screen, being of gigantic proportion as compared to the rest of the phones. But, alas, NO. Of course not, don't be spastic. Not yet anyway...
So.... What is HD about it? Stupid naming protocol is what I'll say.

I hate when the writer says: "If only we had that kind of hardware a couple of years ago, nobody would have even considered the iPhone seriously"
after 3 years finally a company found the meaning of touch, something more than just a gesture, an intuitive usage of the most natural human and machine interface.
Compare searching among media in Diamond, shooting each album up to see what the next is with a very primitive and awful cartoonish appearance!!!
Now by hiring the cover flow, this namely new kid makes touch more sensible.
On and on and on.
I have to tell the writer, the problem has never been the MHz or MB of RAM, this is the lack of idea and innovation. All these companies owe their progress to Apple and it's phenomenal iPhone.
Please STOP assuming Windows the best platform before writing your reviews.
Future of mobile belongs to Android (for more serious users) and to iPhone (for happier and younger users), Symbian, WinMo and other Dinosaurs are gone. Opening and Editing Office Documents are done over JAVA platform now the same for Multitasking.
After all I can count the improvements in this new handset:
1- CPU
2- Win 6.5 over 6.1 (getting ideas from iPhone and Android)
3- Opera 9.7, since 9.5 it's copying Safari
4- Capacitive screen, not a new thing these days.
5- Solid, minimal and uniform body (sounds familiar? iPhone concept in design)
What is still in queue:
1- 65K color is terrible (WinMo still is not able to code more than 16 bit color, you still call it powerful???)
2- Usage of the touch gestures is limited to add-ons in touch floe 3d not the core of windows. compare copy/paste with iPhone.
3- Not upgradeable to WinMo 7.0, next year I'll have a free upgrade for my iPhone 2G, to iPhone 4.0, I have done it 2 times till now and every time I have enjoyed the new experience
