Nokia E72 review: The business of messaging

28 November 2009
Nokia E72 is one of those handsets everybody is talking about long before their release. There may be nothing much to talk about – after all everyone knows what to expect of the Eseries and they have never let us down. But still savoring the next batch...

Bought one 4 days ago and has been used extensively after hacked. I've used Symbian for over 5 years now but this is definitely nokia's best masterpiece to date. Ugly perhaps, but outstanding.

what's so special about this E72 which will make people buy or upgrade to this phone, especially if you have been using something like E71 or E75 in the past? It's a fact that people look to E-series as a phone which could be used as a business purposes but times are changing.

Will we ever see a Nokia E-series running on a windows mobile platform, or android to say the least. That would be fantastic... isn't it?

@ david if you need camera and music player and full touch screen go for omnia hd. This is a qwerty phone, so for qwerty lovers, their main concern to buy a phone is the qwerty keyboard itself. Camera, music player, built quality, and bigger screen is a bonus

The video has been the small letdown for me but cant have the lot..it still does well to capture a one off event ..Else the rest of E72 is full marks..

@ Dave below i know what you mean,,the e72 does not come with n-gage games or touchscreen then in come the critics branding it a poor fone and thats bad for other buyers cause it makes it sound like the whole fones bad..There are many mobiles because folk want different things so just cause something does not suit you while rubbish it??

To person about audio quality,,lets say we have a + and - out of the amplifier to a transducer of different kinds,,what gsm are saying is the loudspeaker transducer is poor quality BUT that same output then goes to the headfones with high quality transducer and its right next to your eardrum producing excellent sound..Some early speakers and they may be still used were piezo eletric types which are fine for them high tones like monophonic bleeps but nowt much else..

[deleted post]Why do people here with low self esteem feel the need to call other dumb cause they don't like the same phone as them? I think there are now too many wannabe internet smartasses that are so picked on in real life that they just have to go into forums like this and act badass. I don't care what you do with your phone, if you "understand" it enough to use it or if u have a very bad social life and the phone is your only friend. I use the phone for portable music, calling and photos, and it failed on all 3. For everthing else i have my laptop. I guess you are so smart that you can even use the N900 as a vibrator, but im so bumb that i don't get it. I work for HP with design and some programing, understanding Linux and Maemo 5 open software is childs game, but that's not the issue, the issue is that music playback and camera is still crap. Everyone doesn't have to antisocial and need a phone to do everything, in your case, use it as a vibrator.

thank you so much gsmarena on the E72 review. the picture quality of E72 is really great with minimal noise compared to N900 which tends to minimally over-sharpen the images. i am very convinced now that even without the carl zeiss logo or optics - some non carl zeiss nokia units can give better image quality with proper lightning condition. it could have been better if nokia incorporated the image and video stabilizer which will compensate the 15fps vga qulality of the video.

Only one real manufacturer makes dual-sim phones and none of them are high end, so enjoy your cheap plastic Samsung or your cheap and brittle Chinese NOKLA.

                        hi all,
i'm an owner of nokia E71 and based on the arena review i don't see any reason to upgrade to E72.

for me i don't see big changes. this phone is for the people that did't purchase E71

On the 5th page it is stated that there is geo tagging, yet there isn't.

I am very convinced into buying this phone, yet it is a pity that the screen is such a low resolution. It is the only thing I would like changed about it.

This phone is great but so is the N900, it war created for people who know what they are doing; not for limited people who can barely use a dumbphone. If you don't like the N900, it's because you are too limited to understand it. Your awful grammar proves my point.
