Competition is certainly one of the things that make the Android OS so much fun. There are already several manufacturers involved in the Google OS game and each of them has already released a flagship that aims at the peak of the...

Maybe GSM Arena could call Samsung and ask about the flah, the RAM, and the QWERTY model? We would be really happy to know. :D

More and more sites are listing in the I9000 specs the Led Flash.
Maybe they are misinformation mistakes, or maybe the final version has it.

I remember some no brainers used to annoy us about the X10 all the time that it had an outdated os 1.6 Andriod or that it lacked divx/xvid support. But hey guys wake up! These problems can be fixed, and the X10 will be updated to the latest software and also you can download an application that will allow you to enjoy divx/xvid videos.

So it's just lame to keep complaining about something that can be fixed. But what about this!! No flash come on are u kidding me????
This is something truly worth pointing at since this problem is not fixable and since this is considered a high end phone! I repeat a high end phone with no basic hardware like a flash!

Anyway, I'm not that kind of loser that keeps bashing a brand just to bash and annoy people like other freaks in this website that find pleasure acting this way. All I'm saying is that I don't think this device is worth your money, at least its better to have a decent device like a beam that having a no brainer device such as the galaxy s.

        Peace!

Hey all of you, you are missing an important point here. Even if you don't use your flash for taking photos, what about video recording??

I find it very useful to record at night with the led flash on! And the recording is pretty good. But what if your recording with out a flash!! Forget about it you will get nothing. I repeat and say that if this phone was a reguler phone I would accept it lacking a flash.

But since it's the best high end phone samsung ever produced how could it lack a flash!!!! It's so so so stupid from samsung and this device is not worth the money. Let samsung learn a lesson and respect their customers next time. First of all they have the worst support and update ever for their mobiles and now this!!! Sorry not acceptable at all. However, if you are a die hard fan samsung and you would like to waste your money on them at least you could take something that is worth it like the Samsung beam.

This device is a huge TRICK! They trick you with the 4 inch screen and super amoled and yet you can't take decent pictures to enjoy them.

Ok guys let's cool down a bit here. I think the unique looks of a phone is secondary when it comes to comparing specs so the galaxy is not for you if looks is all you care about. As for the LED flash issue, who knows? I mean when I thought about it seriously the flash for me has been mainly used as a torchlight first then a few odd photos at night here and there. But I do think it's pretty dumb for a high-end device to not have some basic hardware, particularly something quite cheap and simple as flash. The main thing is we should wait for the final version to be released in order to know for sure what the case is.

Crikey there's some mobile-phone bashing on here!
It shouldn't be "iphone is cr@p" or "samsung are rubbish" - because at the end of the day most of the companies offer similarly poor service - it's all about the product...
Some people prefer a simple, speedy, reliable system and therefore iphone is the obvious choice...
Some people prefer a whizz-bang UI, covering up the cracks of Windows / Android - and they choose HTC...
Some people prefer cutting edge technology, but at a price of sometimes laggy performance, or missing out on some (perceived) "essential" features, like a flash - and in this instance you would choose samsung...
It's a question of taste and preference...
The only flash that is worth talking about is xenon - all other LED flashes are RUBBISH and next to useless - and as xenon is not the industry standard - it's only ever an added bonus...
If you want looks, go for the HTC Legend, an overall solid performer, go for the HTC Desire, but if you want to take a risk at something that is different enough to stand out once you get past the boring design - go for the Samsung Galaxy S - I know I will be!

OMG it lacks a flash.Tell me,how often do you ever use a flash?I never used it back with my K750i but as a torchlight.A flash doesn't improve Imagequality in low light situations - a xenon flash, yes, but from what I've seen from nowadays Smartphones you don't need a flash.

Well, the Design...it's a bit boring, but that's ok considering the awesome inner specs. And for those who think it's an iphone copycat...well then, get yourself an iphone,it*s totally unique,as obviously EVERYONE is runnign around with an iphone.

I personally don't want to buy an acessoire, but a phone where I can get the maximum out of.

GalaxyS vs. Beam ... omg ! just look the weight, 15mm for the Beam, 9.9 for GalaxyS ...
                  Beam have a 3.7', the i9000 have 4 inch.
Swipe Text Input at the Samsung GalaxyS, yeah, but not on Beam...
Bluetooth is a 3.0 on I9000, 2.1 for Beam. It's just for a futur use.
And after, for a phone who have a projector, 800Mhz for run all of these features, you kidding me?
                  Have a nice day.

Now even the new iphone has a led flash! While the best handset from samsung lacks it! What a joke, how absurd and ironic is that :)

This means that you wont enjoy the camera and the HD recording unless its in the morning or noon at least! Also, this phone is a copy cat of the iphone! So its really a big disappointment and its not unique at all.

On the other hands for people who love samsung, I advice you to go for the samsung beam, at least its unique and different. It also has an 8 mp camera with hd recording and led flash + a projector. And the rest of the features are similar to the galaxy S.

Don't be fooled by this device its not worth your money!

I'm a big follower of mobiles...
My last Samsung was an Omnia (very nice and very good)
My current mobile is an HTC Hero...
So I've had experience of both...

All I have to say is..
After having Windows phones and Symbian phones and phones without operating systems and even had a lot of exposure to iphones... Android is by far the best system I've used...

In terms of Samsung vs HTC - I have to say in terms of mobile support - both aren't brilliant, I'm not sure any company is - my Omnia got several flash upgrades and it run just fine (for an old windows phone) however HTC still haven't updated the Hero with anything but 1.6 and it's getting a bit old now...

In terms of Desire vs Galaxy S - I was going to get a Desire until this came out, now I'm going to move to Samsung again.. Basically for a couple of reasons... Firstly, HTC cameras are rubbish, absolutely rubbish, even when I had a Tytn2 - they are rubbish, and a little LED on it isn't going to change things, so don't worry about a lack of LED anywhere. Samsung's cameras are better, a lot better, even my Omnia (3mp?) took some great photos, and that didn't have a light (maybe it did, but so rubbish you could never use it)... Also, there's a lot of discussion between Sense UI and TouchWiz... Touchwiz on the Omnia was old and a bit cr@p - and Sense IS lovely, but Sense is also a bit boring... a bit too uniformed and the icons are a bit too large... What I've seen about the revamped Touchwiz is more panes (potentially) but even if not, I like the clutter-free approach and letting the icons / panes speak for themselves - I don't think there's much in it...
Finally the big difference is HD video recording - I don't mind that I haven't taken any photos for a year using Hero - because they are so rubbish, but I'd love to take HD video - a great novelty!
                        So there you go...
I don't think there's much in it... I think design-wise the Desire looks nice (I like the rubbery back to it - it feels nice) but it looks a bit dull - the Samsung Galaxy is VERY dull looking - looks incredibly generic and the design hasn't moved on since Omnia...
However... looks can be deceiving.. as we all know... it what's on the inside that counts... ;)

                          @ Samoss13

Great, thank you! If this is correct and the i9000 camera really has LED flash this could be my first Andoid phone. The only thing holding me back now is the fact that there is still no Android version of MetrO and apparently no good alternative either.

BTW, I think the flash issue is a bit over-rated. Yes, I want my phone to have a decent camera (that's why I shy away from HTC) but on my current phone I almost never use flash, even at night, because the photos usually end up badly over-exposed. If the camera has high enough ISO settings then that could work better than flash. Execpt is you need the flash for torch light, of course.
