Samsung I9000 Galaxy S preview: First Look

13 April 2010
Competition is certainly one of the things that make the Android OS so much fun. There are already several manufacturers involved in the Google OS game and each of them has already released a flagship that aims at the peak of the...

The reason i want a flash is not to take pictures in the dark (pointles anyway if you don't have a flash) but to use it as a flash-light.
(like blackouts, it may come in handy to have a light). My current phone has a light as well as my 2 previos phones.

Anyway the reason NOT to have a led-light (xeon would be even nicer, but led-light can be used when taking video) is rather weak, it doesn't take much space and don't consume a lot of battery(if used sparsly)
But then , we haven't seen any testing of the camera yet.(maybe it can handle low-light situations just fine)

Anyway we got Beam who has a dlp projector if light is an issue.

Anonymous, 21 Apr 2010Dont you get it SE 2010? We dont need an LED flashlight in ... moreOk dude I get it and you have a point here and I respect it. At least your point is reasonable and not like others who are defending the phone blindly. The thing is bro is that including HD recording and lacking a flash is just a joke! It's like fooling people by giving them something that will never work well! This is my main point, I hate it when companies underestimate customers intelligence! It's just rude and not well behaved. Anyway, I got your point so no worries :)

Don't worry SE is not as dumb as other companies to miss a flash in the best phone they have ever released, even the missing of MT proved to be only a rumor :D

I don't want to get the best specs in the world and also get the worse camera as well!! No thanks. I prefer getting something that maybe have less features but at least a decent camera! The whole point is that why trick people with an HD recording if you will give them something that is not worth it! I think Samsung respected their fans when they introduced the Beam and Wave but this is a total copy cat joke from them, and only people who are not smart enough will go for it.

But I guess since many people followed the iphone although it was not worth it, so I will not be surprised if some of you go for this handset as well :)

I'm a fair person and therefore even though I'm not a samsung fan because their lack of support for their devices but still I think having the beam is better, and I would compare the beam to the X10 and desire as well. They are all cool devices and worth the money.

But for this copy cat with no flash like the previous iphone. For people who wants to be unique and special trust me this is not the right handset for you. Let samsung respect you next time and avoid such as huge unacceptable mistake by not releasing a simple hardware such as the flash. I'm not telling you to avoid the brand and picking on it like many other haters, all I'm saying is that if u like it get at least something that's worth it that's all :>

          Cheers :)

          Cheers!

If the flash was not a deal breaker like some of you claim then why do so many people say that since it doesn't has a flash we will not get it??? While many others purchased the X10 even while it has 1.6 Android because they know it will get updated. Some people are just so stubborn to admit it that's bad because usually these people never develop mentally since they never admit that there is a mistake and therefore continue making the same mistakes all over again.

If you see something not perfect, you should be a man and admit it instead of giving excuses all the time. Sometimes excuses can be logical like I mentioned if the X10 has 1.6 it will be updated anyway. But when a device does not have a flash this means it will never get a flash! Some of you maybe not mind getting a high end phone with out a flash, true! But at least be men enough to admit that you will have the worse camera in the high end phone category.

Even the new iphone has a flash! Which makes the galaxy s the worse camera for a high end phone ever! If you don't believe me try taking a shot or try recording at 10 pm at night and lets see how good your galaxy s will perform :). Thank god that samsung beam and wave exists at least it's a smart choice for smart people. But let's leave this choice for people who are less smart :)

Fongy, 21 Apr 2010Hilarious! You have you love SE 2010's fixation on a flash... morei totally agree with everything you say... flash is not everything for everyone... we all have different wants and needs... I for one am not really interested in having a flash and more than 3 megapixels in a phone. i don't like shooting photos/videos anyways, so, why would i care about a flash?

i'm more interested in the screen quality and multi-touch support in a phone (for many different applications/scenarios)... but that's just me...

seems like all SE 2010 cares about is a flash... funny...

I also noticed the "with Google" and I'm wondering the same.

I also wonder if 8GB/16GB storage really means that you can install (and run) lots of apps or if there is some hidden limitation that will become apparent once you start using the phone. Seems too good to be true.

Android 2.2 (2.5?) is around the corner. And that makes all phones who are currently on 2.1 "old" per se.

I ahvenät read any information on this. Anyone else?

You have you love SE 2010's fixation on a flash!!
Forget all the other things it does, if it doesn't have a flash, it's totally rubbish!
                          Hilarious!
SE 2010 - would that stand for sony ericsson purchance?!??

The fact is that people who buy these types of phones aren't being "duped" they research and compare all the time... The types of people (myself included) don't just look at one phone, but all of them, and the we DECIDE which features are important and which aren't...
Obviously for SE 2010 - if the camera doesn't have a flash he doesn't want to know - something to do with liking to take pictures of himself in the dark...
And for some other people - the flash might be important - but is it a deal breaker? Of course not...
Like I said, I have an HTC Hero - I bought it knowing that the camera was rubbish and that (shock horror) it didn't have a flash. It has still been the best phone I've ever used (and won must have gadget of last year) - despite (shock horror) not having a flash!
The next phone I get, will have the features I want...
It certainly won't be the X10 (laggy, 1.6 android, underdeveloped UI)
It won't be the Legend - too similar to Hero
It won't be the Desire - again, too similar to what I have know..
It will be the Samsung Galaxy S...
(you see what I did there, I made a DECISION on what I want, because I am INFORMED and RESEARCH different options..)
                          ;)

I think it was already verified earlier in this comment chain that a LED flash is going to be there when the phone is available for purchase.
At least based on information on Expansys site ( e.g. http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=198072 ), but also a corresponding shop in Finland where it is available for pre-ordering.

I have no problem but it would really be embarrasing carrying a high end phone with no flash! even the worst camera phones will perform better than you, so don't make a big fuss of your HD recording because it means nothing since it lacks a flash. So regarding the camera you will be the worse just keep that in mind :)
