16 April 2010
If you’ve seen the Google Nexus One, you’ve seen the HTC Desire. End of story. We liked the Nexus One so be our guest, HTC Desire. But is it all that simple? HTC are so good they build phones for the competition. HTC are so mean they have no issues competing...

And btw. the Desire is getting pretty hot, so i hope i won't see any force closed apps during summer or have to wear gloves to hold the phone :D

So the so-called ROM or system partition is where you can install apps in Android. The manufacturers still use ROM in their specs lists, so do GSMArena along with its true meaning - the system partition (to avoid misunderstandings).

I hope in the near future ROM will drop from the manufacturers' dictionary.

Galaxy S no flash for the camera and an ARM 600 processor clocked to 1g. Heat and reliability are going to be issues, and Samsung will, as they always do show complete apathy.

From the review: "The HTC Desire has 512MB ROM and almost 80% of it is used or reserved for the Android OS. This leaves you with 120MB free space for all your apps and games."

WTF? How do you install apps, or anything else, on READ ONLY MEMORY (ROM)?

That's the dilemma HTC is facing. It would a be compared to Nexus One which I think has more fans than Desire

I don't see how any review, let alone the product itself, can have much credibility left when the audiability is praised as being "quite good" FACT is is awful, with constant hiss. Add this to any background noise from where you are calling and singularly THE main function of ANY phone, the ability to make a clear call is lost. No resaon for this other than cost cutting. Note also it appears the phone does not support certain push emails, so you get no notification when something arrives. Again the review made no mention of this.
Other phones which are antiques compared to this simply don't have this issue.

Make no b... morei'm using Process manager, Automatic task killer and also Startup auditor, so i definitely removed all those pesky battery background eaters, and yet still on full usage it lasted those 2 hours, so pls don't tell me you have some special battery :D this could be a great phone, but they blew it with the internal storage limit, battery life, mediocre camera and poor video playback... I'm definitely waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S now!

And video recording is a total mess. 15fps is so not good.

The main disappointment is really the camera. It looks like it has no colors. Internal storage is a major drawback too since you can only install apps in internal memory. 120mb is so low for someone who want a lot of apps!!

Reading and writing this on a Desire as we speak. Make no bones about it, this is the best handset on sale in the UK today. Believe the hype. And the battery is more than workable. I've been pushing it from full for 6 hours and I'm on 30% now. Task killer, and take care and it will treat you..

Now, waiting for SS Galaxy S?

Wow... those are some really bad photos this phone takes. And video recording @ 15fps? Also, installing apps will be limited with only 120 mb since Android only allows internal storage for apps. I expected so much more from this phone...
