05 May 2010
A stylish and durable steel body, compact size and smartphone skill, the Nokia 6700 slide looks strong enough to hold its own in a modern world. Touchscreen, Android and whatnot have forced a sea change and many fear Symbian to have...

Can anyone let me know how to show the sender's name when a text message comes in? Mine only says "1 New Message" and I would like to be able to see the sender name before opening the text message. thanks.

Reasonable features for low price (sans wi-fi; dealbreaker right there). Pity the phone's hideous.

Had this phone around a week now, good solid, feature packed phone for the price (paid $279 AUD outright)hooks up with the bluetooth in my car and doesn't drop off. Good camera, easy to use (love the fact that if you have used a nokia before its all the same) comes with a 2GB card and you can use your own music as ringtones (unlike the iphone!)

Wow at the camera! this kinda ticks me off, why couldnt my N900 have a camera like this? That seriously is one of the best 5mp cameras I have seen so far. Its a decent phone overall but the design is average and it uses the same plain Jane UI. If priced well I think they will sell more thne enough.

Its a nice looking phone and would be good for kids mainly, unfortunately phones these days that do not offer WiFi are pointless.

Society today demands that people use social networks, email and web just to function.

Users may not have plans and may be pay as you go and this is where WLAN is key, these users can use the web, email and anything else for free.

Contracts work for some people but ultimately way more expensive, I have not put money into my pay as you go phone in over 4 months and i can make and receive calls via VOIP without issue.

Anyway, its different strokes for different folks, for me WiFi is mandatory in a phone.

Agree about smartphones, trouble is this phone is not that small. It is chunky, even for a slider. And to be honest, putting my 5230 next to this 6700, strangely enough in reality not that much different in reality. SE have made some decent compact handsets, but you could hardly describe the 6700 as minuscule, it's compact and if you like an N95 style clone in a smaller form factor does the trick, but I'm not impressed and rate the phone 6/10 if asked.

Andrew Tan, 08 May 2010Another outdate product by Nokia. Now is year 2010 not y... moreWELL SAID!!

I had a Nokia 3210 in 2001 took it from UK to a remote city of Utah, they thought I had brought space age technology with me (didn't work though, only 900/1800, I think). First with INTERNAL antenna for me to use, they WERE years ahead, sadly the reverse maybe true today, but did not want to say it myself.

Lots of people prefer small and lightweight telephones instead of brick sized smartphones, this model goes exactly for them. You can find very easily an adapter 3,5 mm to 2,5 mm audio jack and use quality headphones for music with this model.

Talking of design, sitting on my desk, Exhibit A a Samsung S3100 I paid less than 30 UK pounds for, OK it's only got a 1.3mp Camera, 176x220 screen, but is it good or what!! Very stylish slider, excellent as mp3 player, love the back cover with knurled finish. The d-pad is first rate, signal strength good. Exhibit B, Nokia 6700. Has 5mp camera, is it me or is this camera more like a 3mp camera (said that before), great screen true, but hardly anything special in resolution. Music player, prefer S3100. Let's see, I could own five, YES '5' S3100, for the price of a 6700 (which I do own too). I do like the metal on the 6700. Side by side the S3100 looks cool, dare I say BETTER than the 6700. Nokia, please keep making phones like the 5230, which I too own BARGAIN, your BEST deal yet. The 6700 should be priced (network subsidised) no more than 69 pounds, NOT 149 at cpw!!
