Doctor Sohail, 23 May 2010Am a Huge Fan Of SamsunG Omnia , Omnia 2 !! Was Hoping TO C... moreI agree 100%.

They are letting go the top spot for (in)significant things that in 2010 count a lot.

C'mon, no flash for a camera with HD recording capabilities? And don't tell me that if I want good pictures to take a digital camera with me, because if my cellphone has flash I don't need to carry a camera besides my phone. I'm not a professional photographer, so my pics are only taken for fun or for showing my friends something that I may find interesting in a shop (technology stuff, cars, cloth, etc.) so the RAM issue as well... c'mon Samsung!

I own a Samsung Omnia II and I am very happy with it, but it's time to move on to Android since I'm not interested at all in Windows Phone 7. If Galaxy S comes out without the minimal requires I demand, well, HTC will be my choice then.

Design is really subjective... it looks like crap in the renders, but in actual photos it looks great IMO

              [deleted post]Hello
Based on what you announced Nokia N8 the best phone in the market, the phone is not released yet

One of the main reason that made me not optimistic about N8 is the OS Symbian I really hate it specially now with great and powerful OS available in the Market right now such as Mac iPhone & Android

The features of N8 are great and highly appreciated but thru my experience with Symbian … it’s huge deal breaker, in fact I don’t look at NOKIA product any more

              Thanks

Most people aren't gunna care about the awesome samoled screen or watever, as along as it's fast and simple to use, and has good apps and easy connection/synce from pc, most people are happy. Just like the iPhone.

Wanted to get the N8 but when I saw this, it blew me away. I want my phone fast and if I want to take pretty pictures ill do so with a DSLR.

I believe the phone has 512MB of RAM since Andriod + TouchWiz eats more than 256MB on a fresh boot so its kinda impossible to have it at 256MB only.

The choice is simple really, if you guys want a camera phone go get the N8 its the best on the market for that purpose, if you doubt samsung's build quality then by all means go purchase HTC made phones.

At the end of the day its all about personal preference on which is the "best" phone suited for your needs and on my needs its the Galaxy S, bar none!

Nice to know some 1 who is Talking in Logical Sense .. Symbian system is QUite Outdated .. Nokia N 97 was ma Last cell which i used hardly 1 week after Nokia 5800 Xpress Music .. U can withstand symbian , But not to the extent that u can call it cool .. I think , i would prefer outdated WM 6.5 even on symbian .. Symbian does't give u the feeling of flow or being in control of things when it comes to Do things on the go .. Symbian OS is not even stylish . But No doubt , N8 Build is AmazinG ( The Only Point that I will Give To Nokia in this regard as well as the 8 Mp Camera ) . But my Quest For Nokia is No More .. Full Stop .. Android is The Next Big Thing IF " WINDOWS MOBILE 7 " did't dominate the Market with its services , Resources and Aesthetics as Its Potentially Microsoft's Last Chance to Dominate The Market .. It can Shoots MS to the heights or Nail it so Deep in da Ground dat it might never ever think of MakinG Mobile OS ever .. But Symbian , Sorry !! Already Dead Compared To Android or Anyother Platform !!

[deleted post]If it has Ram = 512 mb , as ANONYMOUS said so ( Which i think , U urself are not sure about ) then it would B Nice .. But Flash and Design elements are still there to Look At .. I can Live with 512 Mb as the CPU and GPU are Relly Good .. But Flash for Light and THe Build Material are still there to consider .. Samsun Did't Need To Have Spotted back as its Not Elegant and The Lower Curve of the back ( IT makes the galaxy S Look thicker and Ugly while its Slim ) . And the Build Quality is So Questionable here ( COMPARE it To HTC HD 2 , WHich is the Best Build Phone that I can Think Of , And Which I so Hardly avoided , cuz of WM 6.5 and SAMSUNG GALAXY S ) . SamsunG Phones Dont cost U Cheap then Y not have the Build Quality of HTC or iphone !! Anywayz , Lets See when this Phone come out For Real and Analysed From A to Z , then get the Real Idea ..

I just noticed in the official spec sheet that, amongst others, this phone supports OGG and FLAC audio format.

Also, no mention of RAM/ROM size in the official spec sheet. That's why everyone's still guessing...

Satz, 23 May 2010Firstly I should really thanking for the funniest/ironic re... moreSo to sum up the discussion, Galaxy S and N8 have different advantages and disadvantages, and which is better will depend on personal preference, since none of them can essentially be called anything but awesome phones?

You make some fair points, but I'd like to ask a few questions. How many people sitting in this forum polishing nerd-boners for each new phone that comes out, is really going to care about phone durability? I mean, people who want phones like these want them because they are the newest and must capable tech, so what are the chances of these phones not getting replaced after little over a year of use, if even that much?

N8 has an awesome camera, but what are you really going to use all that quality for? Shoot an epic action movie or a gallery of art photography? The average dude will use the camera for video taping himself playing guitar for youtube or being drunk with his friends, and he will take mirror-pictures of himself for facebook. Retarded examples maybe, but the point is that crystal clear quality isn't really essential to the day-to-day usage phone cameras normally see.

Also the biggest drawback of the N8 is still Symbian^3. I have an X6 now, and I know and love Symbian, because I've taken the time to discover that it does in fact do just as much as the newer OS's do. However, I can't help but to notice smarter and, well.. cooler and more fun, it looks using the touchwiz/android. The swipe features described in the contacts and messaging departments I find quite awesome, and the swype input looks really handy as well - Maybe it will stand a chance of making one handed typing sensible on such big touch screens again? Anyway, the point is, from where I'm standing, Android looks like the "big OS" of the now and the immediate future, and this phone looks like by far the best android phone, so unless it breaks the bank, I can't for the life of me see a way around purchasing it.

Can you turn off TouchWiz and use the standard Android 2.1 UI but still keep their widgets and applications?

in my opinion X10-Desire-Galaxy S are the best phones for now but galaxy s will be available in early q3 worlwide while X10 and desire are released in late q1
                                    it has some disadvantages like only 256MB ram&bad design&no flash&not good camera& feeble loudspeaker&etc

                                      RAM is only 256MB

This is a top end Android phone meant for Froyo and perhaps even for gingerbread!

At the time when everybody else and their grandma ships Android high end phones with 512MB of RAM - or more.

I can only say one thing to Samsung:

                                      EPIC FAIL

Will skip this phone. Really disappointed.
