    it doesn't have 256mb ram it has 512, read the review updates, or other comments, or even the phone specs on other sites.

    but why no battery life tests here!!

    And still no one has found out if touchwiz can be killed off and froyo loaded :/

          Here ya go;

          * Motorola Droid: TI OMAP3430 with PowerVR SGX530 = 7 million(?) triangles/sec
          * Nexus One: Qualcomm QSD8×50 with Adreno 200 = 22 million triangles/sec
          * iPhone 3G S: 600 MHz Cortex-A8 with PowerVR SGX535 = 28 million triangles/sec
          * Samsung Galaxy S: S5PC110 with PowerVR SGX540 = 90 million triangles/sec

                invictimus, 24 May 2010I think that even you do not believe in that... :)Nokia N8 has the best GPU in the industry.

                http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerVR#Series5_.28SGX.29

                "SGX540 (twice performance of SGX530)"

                PowerVR SGX530 = 7 million triangles/sec , so that makes it 14 million triangles/s

                ***Nokia N8: Broadcom BCM2727 = 32 million triangles/sec

                seems like Galaxy GPU is actually "SLOWer" then Nokia's N8. hmmm

                          chocoberry, 24 May 2010240MB of free RAM? Have you got the source?I dont have an online source yet,not until June.

                          But heres something, the Nexus one has 512MB of RAM correct, If you have a friend that owns the phone ask him how much is the free ram on a fresh reboot on the phone, Im not gonna put any numbers here but after you see the free ram on the nexus one you wont be wondering if the Galaxy S has 256 or 512, but it makes you wonder how those 384mb phones manage it.

                            From what I read about this phone it uses a different chip to the HTC Desire. A 1Ghz Hummingbird processor that is apparently slightly faster and more energy efficient than the 1Ghz Snapdragon chip the HTC Desire is using. This is because it uses 45nm silicon compared to 65nm on the Snapdragon. I could be wrong - Since I read it when I was very tired, but Google the Hummingbird chip and see if you can find a tare down of the 2 chips (which is what I read).

                            I am tossing between this phone and the Desire as well. But this phone wins me cause of the spec sheet + the screen - Appearance however is a turn down. It might be just me but I like the look of the HTC Desire a lot more.

                                I'm using Omnia II and waiting to change it to Android Phone. Now I'm consider the HTC Desire and Samsung Galaxy S I9000. I really like Galaxy's DLNA, and its hugh ROM space. But if it is only 256MB Ram that it is very confusing to choose it. Is it really have only 256MB? This is the only point that may switch to HTC Desire even it doesn't have native DLNA support.

                                At last, can it be upgradable to Android 2.2? If it is, is it free?

                                    Is there going to be benchmark test of CPU&GPU on this phone against HTC Desire and Xperia as GSM Arena mentioned before?

                                    The key issues for me with this phone:

                                    1- Size is too big. They should really have 3.2 or 3.5 inch version that fits comfortably in trousers pocket and still gives good smartphone experience.

                                    2- The custum UI is a big no for me. Android is updated frequently with significant improvements and waiting for an updated release is a torture as it will be with V2.2. For what it adds, custom UI are a big problem for Android platform.

                                    If the monafacturers have anything to add, they should add them as optional and applications and let people get the new Android version instantly not worry about app compatibility with their phones.

                                    Otherwise this is a great phone.

                                        256 mb RAM is a shame, even if it may work for now, one needs reserves for the future. Even Nexus and Desire have 512..

                                        And the Pictures taken with the Camera really look crappy :/ Its a shame. Would've been my device, i even like TouchWiz.

                                        Thanks for the review!
