Nope its not the standard, just comparing with other flagship models from other vendors.

      # No Flash support for the web browser - Has Flash Lite, will get full Flash fith Froyo.
Mmm. Good that you are the patient one.

      # No flash for the camera - Ok with this one.
Just to add, flagship phone, 5 MP camera, no night shots. Wow dude.

      # No dedicated camera key - What's the point of it?

Do you see how how awkward it is not having a standard button to click. This plus the earlier point and mash that with a 5 MP camera. I ask you, whats the point of including a camera just for the sake of it?

Really good in-depth review. I really wanted to get an EVO but unfortunately it's not coming to Canada, so that kind of blows, and honestly, after reading various reviews, the Samsung Galaxy S seems to be better in many ways, such as:
                - It has a better screen
                - It's lighter
                - Swype
                - Faster Processor, etc.

Can any other manufacturer with another device get such a review on any other site with these disadvantages:
                      # No free GPS navigation solution = android market place for that
                      # No Flash support for the web browser = galaxy S has flash lite 3.1 out of the box, it does have flash
                      # No flash for the camera =ya it's true, whatever
                      # No dedicated camera key = most HTC android phones don't have one either

some people here are too freakin' retarded

To be honest, although this phone is awesome now, I wouldn't get it.

I currently have an omnia i8910 and with the way Samsung treated it with upgrades, I would be surprised if this phone ever got Android 2.2.

The only thing that stopped me upgrading off of my Omnia earlier was the modders who actually made the phone responsive and gave it the features it needed.

But, on a side note, does anyone know how the Omnia's screen compares to this? I know the res is different, but the quality?

I still find it really hard to believe that people continue with the childish "brand loyalty" argument...
"Nokia rules" or "SE rules" or whatever...

Honestly - would you get a phone from a company that didn't provide the features you wanted - just because of the brand? Of course you wouldn't...
Everyone goes for the phone that best suits them, phones are always hotly debated because people use them more than anything else, for a multitude of reasons...

If you want a cameraphone - go for N8
If you want a smartphone - go for Desire / Galaxy / X10

I honestly don't think you can compare N8 to the newer smartphones - it's obviously geared towards camera / video - so it's more in the league of Satio / Vivaz / Leo / Pixon than the more technical handsets...

And again, people aren't stupid, they go for the features they want...
Want a large screen but not bothered too much about photos? Go for Galaxy...
Want a dependable good all-rounder, but again not bothered about photos? Go for Desire...
Want Android with a good camera, but outdated OS? Xperia 10

It's all about what you want, not what company manufactures it...
People who like all of the companies (I count myself amongst those) can see the benefits of all these phones, and their weaknesses...

And then make an informed choice and buy the one that suits them...
Personally, it's been a struggle to pick, I've never been interested in photos, etc. so N8 was out of the window (as Android is a far better OS than Symbian, having used both and Windows and customised ones, I think it even beats iphone's OS), and because X10 is only Android 1.6, no true multitouch and from many reports a very laggy underdeveloped UI, that's out of the window... So only Galaxy and Desire remain...
And because I want a super screen (because, after all, that's what you're going to be looking at 99% of the time)...
The choice was simple - Galaxy!
                              ;)
Whatever you personally choose though, ENJOY IT!!! :)

Performance with higher-res videos is great – it played 720p videos like a champ. Little wonder, considering it can record 720p videos. There’s no TV-Out but thanks to the DLNA support you can still stream videos and photos to your DLNA-enabled TV or media player (any PC with Wi-Fi and DLNA-capable software would do too).

I think this one is wrong .. "Tv-out" is present in SAMSUNG Galaxy S, you can stream to any TV using 3.55 ctv out cable not just DLNA supported.

I am fairly sure you have to install apps to the ROM (although there is a partition for apps and one for the OS). Froyo is the first OS to allow apps to be installed to the sdcard and not the ROM.

I don't know if there is 2gb for OS AND apps or 2gb for OS and 6gb for apps for this this phone.
