15 July 2010
This week we step away from our usual line of work to do some time travel. We’re looking back at the ten years that we’ve been following the mobile phone industry. It doesn’t start nor end with us, but we just couldn’t resist the temptation...

Absolute joy to read..I often trail back thru the site to the good old days,,the days before the shelves were strewn with slabs with no character or style..Not enjoying the smartfone market at this present time..If this really is the future of just a screen with the odd real button then this article is real history because from now on all you will see on every page is a monoblock slab with a screen,,no design,,no gadgetry,,no style and definetly NO excitement..Brynn.

lovely article gsmarena! ow God yes i still remember when nokia 3210 was the bomb back in the days hehehe. Now i own the Samsung Galaxy S and yes i can confirm that i won't be able to look at a smaller screen the same as i use to back in the days. how time flies by so fast, nostalgia at looking at all those old phones (especially the nokia communicator). lovely article once again!

            Nice article...

How about an article that takes the mobile users down memory lane? I was browsing your site the other day, and it got me thinking about how the cellphone world has evolved. What the handsets of yesterday looked and felt like and how they have reached the current state.

Really great article. I've been waiting for some sort of history of cell phones and whatnot. I personally am very interested in the evolution of cell phones, and it is amazing that that same evolution is taking place every day. You can look back even 1 year and spot trends in upgraded processor, screen res, camera res, OS, etc. Very exciting to see what there will be even THREE years from now. At this point I expect each new generation of phones to be exponentially better than the last.

Man, 25MP Sounds awesome, what would really be epic would be a phone that could change forms, as in phones that would be able to feature touch+candy bar+qwerty and change according to the user, now THAT would be cool mind reading! :D

sweet article - the only thing that seemed to be lacking was the section on qwerty enabled phones. there should be some actual trends there, like the current popularity of blackberry styles among young people.
