this can't be called a phone anymore. 4.3" is huge for pockets

3" to 3.5" is the sweet spot for a "smartphone".

I'm kind of looking forward to the Desire Z. I'm stuck on t-mobile so they're calling it the G2, I just really hope it gets the Sense UI. I've gotten to play with a Desire and the Nexus One and I kind of like the HTC user interface as oppposed to just raw android. I'm just really kind of torn because I know those WP7 devices are comming out and those look really promising as well. I've had my Blackberry for about 2 years now and Curve 8900 and it's just kind of showing its age and unless RIM comes out with something that significantly better (which they haven't yet) I'm gonna be looking for something new.

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2010MSM8255 is the cpu model that is tiking in the desire hd no... more"MSM8255 is the cpu model that is tiking in the desire hd not QSD8255 what is writen in the article."

To add to this, QSD8255 actually doesn't exist.

There are still MANY sites that are confused between the first generation Snapdragon and second generation Snapdragon processors!

MSM8255 is built using 45nm technology (vs 65nm) and it also contains Adreno 205 GPU (vs Adreno 200). MSM8255 is significantly better than QSD8x50 found in most of today's Snapdragon phones!

If you want to read more about Adreno 205 GPU, here's a nice article:

                      http://smartphonebenchmarks.com/forum/index.php?/topic/61-what-is-adreno-205-and-how-does-it-compare-to-other-gpus/page__pid__65#entry65

Before moaning about the Desire HD size, has any of you actually tried to "Compare" the handset against another handset for example the iPhone 3GS??

The Desire HD is less than a centimetre longer with similar breadth and width, but it has better use of its face with a 4.3 inch screen compared to the iPhone 3GS screen size of 3.5 inches. The Desire HD dimensions are about the same as the iPhone 3GS but the Desire HD has better use of the actual screen size. The same goes for "Comparing" it against the iPhone4, with the Desire HD being of similar dimensions but has better screen real estate. The Desire HD may be slightly heavier, but this is due to it being mostly made of aluminium and not plastic like the iphone, thus feels sturdier and of better build quality.

I would advise all you whinging and moaning about the Desire HD size, keep your mind open and look at actual evidence before forming an opinion, think before opening your mouth and dont be a sheep/fanboy for the sake of it, you're better than that.

I just read that most of Nokia's new phones cameras are FIXED focus! oh just stand there and don't move, I have to get 75cm away from you, oh dear, I can't get your head and your bust in the same shot, so breathe in...

How rediculous to have fixed focus cameras! Nokia fanboys just lost their biggest retaliation to androids being better.

Its the same thing, again. Not impressed much, and just this to announce after hijacking Nokia's annual event? As a tech enthusiast I'm more amazed by the Nokia World than this.

I too am impressed with the boot up time. I have a Blackberry for work and a Nokia for personal use and turn them off and on every business day. The BB has a quick boot up time of a few seconds, but the Nokia takes a minute which is annoying.
