Nokia N8 vs. Samsung Pixon12 vs. Sony HX5v shootout: Blind test

05 October 2010
The Nokia N8 is an immensely popular phone and we’re already hard at work on a proper review of the handset. Since the N8 camera is its pivotal feature, we’re interested how you'd rate it in a blind shootout with two other cameras...

I would say that C is the best followed closely by A. B is a distant third - better than most phone cameras, but not in the ballpark of C or A.

If I were to venture a guess, I would think that B is the Samsung, C is the Sony and A is the Nokia, although reading the comments here from those that own the Sony, it sounds as if I might have A and C switched. Would be an excellent sign for the Nokia if it made the C pictures, but it would still be really good if it were behind the A pictures (although disastrous for Nokia if the N8 made the B pics).

From best to worst, for each sample in order, I think:
      ACB
      ACB
      CBA
      CAB
      CAB
      ACB
      CAB
      CAB

So overall, C best closely followed by A, then B far behind the other two.

        C. Best (some noise, but best overall)
        A. +- (too much noise reduction)
        B. Sooo bad (see and you'll know what i mean)

in my opinion, "most of the time" the worst is "C"

According to those pictures, here are the best shots for me: ^_^

            B, B, C, B, A, A, A, C

I really can't identify which of the three is N8, Pixon12, and Sony..haha.. i guess all of the "B" "That i answer" is the Nokia N8.. "C" is Pixon12, and "A" is Sony..."Just my opinion".. ^_^

              My verdict:
First position clearly goes to 'C', second is by 'A' and last and the worst of the lot was 'B'. I think 'C' was the Sony Camera, 'A' was Nokia N8 and 'B' was Samsung Pixon12. It is a nice effort by GSMArena.com for judging fairly. :-) I know my GSMArena.com is the best! :D

The choices here are very subjective. To each his own.

                  My Verdict -

                  C : Sony HX5v
                  A : Nokia N8
                  B : M8910 Pixon12

In my opinion , B is indeed the worst. The device B tends to underexpose a lot.....the pictures are darker.....esp the first one shows overcast conditions.

C goes the other way round. It gives the pics a vibrant and peppy look....sometimes smearing away some of the finer nuances in the process.....a typical Sony trait.

A takes the middling road. All other pictures were taken in broad daylight except for the last one ; which gave the necessary evidence that pics tagged A were taken from the N8 camera. Remember the N95 and the rest of the recent Nseries crew ? None gave the pictures an oomph look.....they tried to stay faithful to the original colours.

So , in the end , it all depends upon what you want : a beautiful pic (Sony HX5v) or a more natural realistic looking pic (N8).......

                    A wins no doubt
                    C second
                    b last

B and C is pretty close..

C is better when it comes to noise at high iso..

well compared to my camera all of those are crap(though they are 10x times lighter).
Can't say which is the best but can tell you that A seems to have troubles with colors at high ISO, but with better resolution (guess best noise reduction), while C has more accurate colors (according my monitor), but loses details in 100% crop, hence poor (or missing) noise reduction. B is nothing special (and has different WB settings than other 2 obviously).
And something more - on picture of knight - looks like B and C have narrower DoF than A, OR way worse autofocusing.

                          C= Best (Nokia N8)
                          A= Almost best (Samsung)
B= Very poor in comparison (Sony)

A is brighter than C, which fools me to think that it is better, but if the brightness of C is increased, C is WAYYYYYYYY better than A.

Hint. Note the Sensor Range and Pixels Larger Sensor captures more things in its shots as Nokia N86 has. and 10MP will give a nearer View of the things due to low Pixels.
