right after reading SOME PEOPLE would not even notice the lack of pixel density in the display in a side-by-side comparation of N8 and iPhone 4... i stopped reading the rest of the preview, GSMarena must've been paid to speak wonders about the N8, cuz this preview is so biased

Anonymous, 06 Oct 2010One thing nokia hid is n8 use same processor as n97 which i... moreYou are very wrong, N8 uses ARM11 CPU at 680, N97 was 434 Mhz, and N97 had no GPU, N8 GPU is right up there with the hummingbird. It is strong, it needs to be for the camera, 3D games and the like.

Anonymous, 06 Oct 2010I am disappointed with the UI.
I waited for N8 a long time... morei donno why you're saying the ui is ugly. have you looked at the new win OS 7 homescreen? yea, thats UGLY!... u people complain cause you're used to seeing this previously. You can see how the n97 still sold so many units, but people were disappointed because it lacked speed and ability to keep up with the current abilities. Now nokia has FIXED that. so you;re getting a stable, popular OS that provides all the current features and doesn't have issues like it used to. wat more could you want? it does everything that any other os can do + tonnes more.
symbian will definately gain a few percentages of market share with this phone.

Wheez, 06 Oct 2010Oh dear, so many sore losers who can't accept that Nokia re... moreSo true... you can find virtually any application on any platform if you really look for it but you are going to find it very difficult to do an update to add an FM transmitter, USB on the go, or to increase your image sensor size.

OMG!!! A lot of people jealous already...just wait for the full review. If you want a phone for show off, with apple logo, flashy UI and eye candy, then this is definitely not the phone for you. Go buy some toys. If you want a sturdy, well built and a real phone then N8 is just right. Moreover if you are using a phone for a year or two,the UI will definitely get boring sometime or the other ,may it be iOS,Android or Symbian. We all need changes,so the looks doesn't really matter. What matters is the performance and battery. In Android the battery drains preety fast,as I am using Galaxy S and N79. And about the apps, let me tell you. Android and iOS may be widely available in their respective app store, but symbian apps are available all over the web(for example getjar,mobile9,ovi store etc) and maximum of them are FREE!!! So don't judge the number of apps by only checking Ovi Store. Music quality of Nokia has always been good, maybe not like the iPhone, but it suits average users. I guess the music quality of this phone will also be awsome(yet to find out).

Oh dear, so many sore losers who can't accept that Nokia really succeeded with the N8. It's not perfect, it's not as fast and smooth as iPhone 4, but it still isnt slow.
I find the N8 to have a close to perfect balance on every aspect. The camera is sort of an exception, but a good exception. I'm finding the new Symbian^3 really good and nice after owned the N8 since last thursday. I love the N8 more and more each day as I learn to use it better.
I hope on the full review you won't forget stuff like USB OTG and FM Transmitter and other really nice hardware features no app will ever give to you on other phones. Most of the earlier reviewers have paid very little to no attention, but they are great features and while not everyone has use for them, for some they are the reason to buy N8.
I will make sure I will not buy a single smartphone in the future that does not have the same kinda USB OTG-feature as the N8.

I personally don't think the N8 is slow. Granted it's not quite as smooth the iPhone 4 or something with the more powerful processors but you don't really notice is. I'm fairly new to Symbian and I really like it. I've used the iOS, Blackberry OS 4&5, along with Andriods, and I've gotta say that I kind of perfer the Symbian over them. It stands out more then the others, and it's overall design I think is pretty nice.
And for the dude who said that it's not a good music player your out of your mind, this thing puts almost other phone I've ever owned to shame along with a few MP3 players. The sceen resoultion could be better, but it looks great, and I don't need the insane Retnia Display resolution numbers. The camera just like they saw is unrivaled. I'll probably get rid of my cheap lil Cybershot point an shoot now, and just stick with this and my SLR. I love the device as a whole, like they say even though it lacks the sheer numbers of the big powerhouses, it still performs excellent. Yeah, it could use a faster processor, but if it's true that the processor isn't clocking at it's max then that could explain a few things. All in all I love it. This is my first Nokia since old Nokia N81, and it's truly a great device.

Anonymous, 06 Oct 2010can be updated ? what will happens with the update it still... morewhen we talk of build quality we refer to how durable the phone is and how the materials feel when held...samsung galaxy is just a simple cheap plastic brick, the same goes to htc desire hd(htc evo4G) they all feel really cheap when held and dont look durable. Iphone4 does have a premium feel (with its glossy gorilla glass) but i'd doubt if it'll survive after few drops. The anodize aluminium on n8 is just truely beautifull and looks durable following many reviews and doesnt make the phone heavy (something i'm patiently waiting to see) even your android fan boys say that they'd buy the n8 if it had android os since its build quality is really impressive. IMO the n8 has all the potential of becomin the best phone released this year and even best seller considering the marketing strategies nokia have used to generate hype about this device and the WoW! Effect about its multimedia features especially the camera . The only thing holding back the success of this device is the high doubt about its os and mark my words if nokia have got it right in the os department and continue supporting this device like how they always do then samsung and all other android phones and apple will face a very serious challenge especially after the new nokia army of symbian^3 is released(E7,C6,C7)

Oh well, I have had enough of listening to people regurgitate stuff they have read on ill-informed/biased blogs.
Let me do some generalising now :
iPhone users fall for marketing and will always think their phone is best. You can attempt to show them where their phone falls well short but there are none so blind as those who will not see. If USB on the go, HDMI output and the like were launched on an iPhone we'd be hearing how great Apple are and how far ahead of the competition they are.
Android users think they are cool, cutting edge and unique by choosing a new OS and shunning the "old" ones. The OS is still young and has plenty of catching up to do in many areas. Let's see where it is once it matures. A new broom always sweeps clean but let's see how it is doing in the years to come. And let's see when Google starts exerting their control over it...
