Samsung I8700 Omnia 7 review: A whole new galaxy

11 October 2010
Though it might seem like a chicken-and-egg situation, the question in our case never was which one came first: Windows Phone 7 or the Samsung Omnia 7. We know you’re all adding two and two together. Our Windows Phone 7...

I hope you guys understand that WP7 has multitasking in the same sense as Ios 4... So stop your bickering.

UI Animation, and text scrolling is amazing. I especially love the graphic magazine look. But waaaaay too much BLACK. Without a colourful background image in the menus, its looking too techy and not appealing.

Next time you come to my restaurant, I'll only give you half a plate. And ask you to give me a chance to prove I can support a customer by giving him the other half next week :) I'll be asking for cash up front though!

Snake, 11 Oct 2010GSMarena are too optimistic about wp7. They are right in sa... moreTrue. If this was an upstart company nobody ever heard about making their first ever OS, I'd only applaud. But it's Microsoft we are talking about here. A company that has been around for AGES, with lots of coding skills at their backs, and they still don't get the fact that by now they should be putting all essentials on the table. Why leave things out? It's not like they were hard pressed for time. Copy and past next year.. Seriously?? How long does it take to code in this kind of functionality? 3 months? That's ridiculous. WP7 is a halfassed OS, I really expected much better.

and they call this a smartphone?

with all the missing features from the OS, this is just a normal phone. heck even normal phones got those missing features!

Although I do hate the fact that we are missing quite a lot of features i can see reason behind most of the choices that Windows has made.
If you have unlimited access to songs via a Zune pass and then you still have Bluetooth file transfer, imagine customers using the file manager to transfer all of their paid for Zune songs to their 32GB memory card(SD card slot announced with the Samsung Focus). Handing it around to all their friends to share with the world, or using Bluetooth or mass storage mode to transfer these songs around to one another.
                    M$ would lose big money!

Copy and Paste is already set out for early 2011 as stated in the article. I imagine either Silverlight or Flash will also make their way at some stage too.
Consider that with standardized hardware M$ can focus entirely on software updates to improve the end users experience. Unlike Apple with I-phones to worry about or Android with OS's from Cupcake to Gingerbread and compatibility problems that these cause.
Yes some major features are still missing but i would rather be able to play with it now and wait for those features than have them miss the boat and release WP7 in another 6 months when those features are added.
Give M$ a chance to prove that they can support us through WP7!!!

i like it. The lack of certain features is not the point - it is the approach they took to using a phone. It's solid, in my opinion.

HEY GSM ARENA!!! u miss another disadvantages
                        you guys put these:
                        WP7-specific limitations:
                        No system-wide file manager
                        No Bluetooth file transfers
                        No USB mass storage mode
                        Limited third-party apps availability
No Flash or Silverlight support in the browser
Too dependent on Zune software for file management and syncing
                        No video calls
                        No custom ringtones
                        Music player lacks equalizer presets
                        No multitasking
                        No copy/paste
No DivX/XviD video support (automatic transcoding provided by Zune software)
No sign of free Bing maps Navigation so far
                        No internet tethering support

and there is the missing others:

                        no phone call
                        no sms
