Real, 02 Dec 2010I completely agree with Kyle. However there may be a misund... moreAnd u do realize ip4 has just over one third more resolution than the next best display on the market right?
U say ' cleary better contrast' , after using the gal s for about 2 weeks I gotta disagree IMO
Well ip4 has ' clearly better resolution'
Each to their own I guess

Real, 02 Dec 2010I completely agree with Kyle. However there may be a misund... moreComing from the super amoled user no doubt, thing is though this day and age (not yr 2000) pinch and zoom is common for a huge number of apps and functions.
U know this, again in the real world, u get a bunch of people to check out 2 computer screens, one with slightly better contrast, one with a higher resolution, I guarantee most are going to opt for a higher res. Remember we are talking about a functional, interactive computer screen not a photograph
At the end of the day the review does state, gal s or the ip4 for a higher res but..
Thing is gsmarena if u rate something as trivial as 'viewing angels' but not resolution?
Seriously?

Real, 02 Dec 2010I completely agree with Kyle. However there may be a misund... moregot to agree with u.... what's the point of having a HD TV screen when most of the time u actually watch normal movies.... when u watch a normal movie, it's all about the general feel of it as u wont actually zoom in to watch the movie. and with the screen being 4' or so nowadays, someone with a normal eyesight would need to zoom 25x to read an article, not to mention how much of a hassle it would be! ^_^ this is what the argument was about, Retina is great, no doubt about it, but this was more on about normal usages and the general feel of it.... stuffs like it's great when u zoom 25x is actually pointless. u fanboys said that they actually left out pentile, but there's other stuffs about iP4 like aspect ratio etc that they left out as well...

Anonymous, 02 Dec 2010so is that a big deal? SGS and Wave display Pentile is RG/B... moreActually I googled and didn't find anything decent to link to so I wrote that from memory. What did you not understand in that?
You understand that when people see the 800x480 resolution tag on the display, they actually expect it to perform like 800x480 display. Do you really want to argue that RGBG Pentile does that?

Kyle, 30 Nov 2010I don't own any of these phones or any other smartphone, bu... moreI completely agree with Kyle. However there may be a misunderstanding with the statement "true blacks are more important than resolution." Resolution is also important, it is just that at this day and age, all the resolutions on the phones being compared are basically equal (meaning you don't see the difference if you use it NORMALLY, not zoomed in 25x... pentile or no pentile). This is why contrast is the current battleground. The phones with the CLEARLY better contrast AND about the SAME resolution WHEN VIEWED NORMALLY wins. If we were in the early 2000s maybe resolution mattered because the phones then were very pixelated. Not anymore. Great work GSM Arena, very objective report.

Are you serious about placing "Retina" LCD on the same level as Super Amoled if it comes to viewing angles? You can see them being much inferior on side-by-side comparison.
