Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc preview: First look

I don't think most Android phones even played avi's and Dvix formats. I know my Desire-Z didn't come with that ability, which bugged the crap out of me for all but 3 mins when I downloaded a player from the Marketplace. I don't see the big deal with a phone not coming with those supported formats. Ok so you have to to spend 4 mins finding, downloading, and installing an app (if you don't know what your doing). I really like the Arc, I haven't owned a SE phone since like the W600 (the swivle walkman thing). I'm thinking about getting one of these though.

stylish design very sexy. android one of the most advancing OS to run on. beautiful camera not the most pratical for just downloading to facebook but very nice to have. overall as long as its not the same faults with there previous phones (i.e. satio.) this is looking to be a very desirable phone. Be easy for me to sell this one.

About the people complaining against the 8MP camera of SE Arc, this I can say:
I won't be using the 8MP anyway. I only take photos for Facebook, PC screen savers and desktop wallpapers, and up to now I have never develop my photos for hard copy. 1920x1080 (approx. 2MP) is enough for FB uploads! Besides 8MP is too large a file for a non-DSL-quality camera. Too impractical! A file so big for just a point-and-shoot quality camera.
What's more important is the lens and autofocus. But if you really really want a top notch camera then buy a dedicated gadget for camera purposes such as Alpha, Canon and Nikon SLRs.

To judge a phone on the basis of video codecs is a little sad!

Different processor, different screen, different Android platform, Backing from Bravia. and to top it off, its one hell of a good looking peice of kit!

If this phone is as faulty as the Xperia X10 is i would not go near it,Got my x10 a couple of months ago and has being in the repair shop more than I have had it, Up till now I was a massive Sony Ericsson fan but my experience with this phone has turned me off sony's have to find myself a new mobile company, How am I ment to recommend this phone to my customers after the bad experience I have had with mine ( yes i work in the mobile retail industry )

Maybe Arc wont beat other dual core phones in term of speed, but it seems it will be the winner in term of Design and Camera, hopefully the battery lives also, dual core phones seems power hungry.
