BlackBerry Bold 9780 review: Business as usual

21 January 2011
It’s no surprise that the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is the next logical evolutionary step, rather than a complete makeover that will propel it into the same league as the iPhone and Android. RIM has a loyal core of customers...

I just bought a BB BOLD 9780 and chose it over the iphone 4 or an android and i can tell you this phone is much better. operates flawlessly and connectivity is a breeze. The added blackberry e-mail address is also a big advantage too. Internet download speed is very quick and the display seems almost on par with the Samsung Galaxy. The only disadvantage that i have come across on this phone is the lack of 'application memory' that is given - i cannot seem to create a bigger memory size for the applications to save on nor can i save them to my memory card. If anyone knows how to do this, could you please tell me.

would like to see an fm radio in for now. in future when wi-fi is freely available everywhere then it will not be necessary but until then its a must. also its about time RIM put in a more powerful processor eqivalent to iphone. with more apps, social networking etc happening on the phone there is more processing power required in modern phones

It's either you like or dislike. It has it advantages and also disadvantages. Bombshell blondes are good to look at and suck intellectually. Comprenez vous?

Its not about wat others like, people like some gagdets which are easy to use, Example me. Once apon a time i was a hardcore fan of the nokia, and would update my self with the best. But seriously folks after using the bb i have realised the true reason of why so many people around the world are crazy about it. Its like a gadget everyone wants to have.

And yeah, even I dnt understand the need to a radio in the phone, i prefer keeping my desired list of tracks.. rather then listening to songs which are prefered by others or one just happned story to be heard a million times in one million patterns....

Anonymous, 23 Jan 2011Mind you not all Indonesians use BB. But I agree that most ... morejajajaja, in my country (Venezuela) is the same thing, the only use that blackberry have is the Pin service, but off course there is not other use for this junk... I think the blackberrys are too overpriced , the appworld is a joke the third part applications sucks... iOS and Android are way way better in all the senses

Anonymous, 22 Jan 2011Why it should have FM radio? FM radio on a cellphone is so ... moreFM radio means listen to radio without internet service, no streaming, no data charge. I personally would avoid phones without it. You get better reception while on the road, free to use when you're abroad (remember no data charge). Nokia is smart to include FM radio in almost all their phones.

Yes, FM radio is an old technology, it came before TV, but it's still very popular, maybe you're the one out of touch with the real world.

[deleted post]Mind you not all Indonesians use BB. But I agree that most of BB users in Indonesia are only following the trends. Many of them don't even know how to search and install apps from Blackberry's AppWorld! They only know how to use the inbuilt apps.

Radio broadcasts drains ten times less battery than podcasts. People don't use radio cause it's "so yesterday" or today. Normal people don't depend on the specsheet on a phone to be "trendy" or a wannabe social muppets. Radio is one of the most energy efficient and allround source of media on a portable device.
