I own Samsung Galaxy S1. With gingerbread onboard and a tegrak lagfix I get 2013 in quadrant. I also removed all the samsung bloatware using titanium backup. And I also have 720p video recording. I think now it's better than the Nexus S.

Probably stock ROMs and CM mods will be applied much easier than previous phones (especially Motorola, argh!). But as always, I wouldn't hold my breath. Meanwhile, I'm keeping my Nexus S.

Let me say this loud and clear: this is not an iPhone competitor, it was not meant to be a phone for people who listen to audio and FM (hey, it says it's *not available* in the specifications). That's also one of the reasons why they don't include made codecs by default: some of them increase the royalties price, and developers just don't care about that. Besides, I'm not sure which videos you're playing, but download the best video players on the Market and they will. I've yet to find a video that doesn't play on those apps.
Compare to what, say, Motorola offers: they are built for general audience, that's why sometimes the codec choice is better, providing a better "out-of-the-box" experience. But there is a price $$ in that.
The Nexus line is a developer phone, made for people who test stuff of the system. The fact that you compared this phone to a 5800xm or a Bada phone means that the Nexus line was probably one of the last phones you should have bought in the Android camp.
My suggestion would be to read GSMArena, reasearch a bit more and find good overall end-user phones with decent audio quality, be it Android or not. I guess you'll find one (that's not something I look for). Good luck. Or just keep the Wave, since it's working fine for you, even with the apps you need. Good luck!

I sold it the day after I bought it. I was very, very angry with myself for taking for granted that this phone would be wonderful and full-equipped trusting Google and Samsung, thinking they would make the iPhone killer with the best Android on the market.
And yes, it is good, but it misses some things that I can't live without in a cell phone. First is Radio FM. I listen to music and the radio when I am on the bus, train, etc... Is it so strange that I like it? Is it a luxury now a days that very expensive last generation cell in 2011 includes a simple FM radio without needing to have a data/wifi connection? SO, no radio, no Nexus for me. Enough to return it.
But the negative surprises didn't end there. I passed all my mp3 music to the hard disk and... OH MY GOD, THE SOUND QUALITY IS HORRIBLE!!! How can Google and Samsung make and sell such a cell? I am a Samsung Waver user, and the Wave has the best sound quality in the market, just awesome. So I took I would lose some sound quality in exchange for a larger 4" screen with top internet and GPS functions. But, hey, that was too much. The music sound quality is awful, and on the earphones (which I listen everyday whan I walk around the city), just unacceptable.
The music player was very ugly and poor too, by the way. Really disappointing all of it.
And then, third surprise. In 2011 this cell doesn't make HD video. Not even 720p. Just 480p. Absolutely poor for what I expected from Google/Samsung and their iPhone competitor. The quality of photos and videos is just mediocre, being generous. To me, unacceptable in 2011 when my Wave makes excellent 720p videos and decent photos.
Finally, the video player is another disappointment. It didn't play most of the films I put inside. I needed to try a lot of different video players from the Android Market and still it was a mess. In my Wave I can play most videos and films out of the box.
Apart from this, the quality of the plastic of the cell is poor and feels cheap. Very far from the wonderful metal feeling of the Wave.
So, I really wish they made a 4" Wave with Android or a better Bada OS where I could have most of the important apps such as Whatapps and Skype. All other cells I see are worse than the Wave and 10 times more expensive, with cheap plastics and lacking many things too.
So, if you care about having native FM radio, good sound quality and a decent camera according to 2011, don't buy the Nexus S.

there is something really wrong with the review..
i owned nexus s.. loved it in every way but 1..
audio quality in nexus s is simply horrible. i own 5800 before this and i still own it. haven't used it in a month after i receive my nexus s. nexus s audio is very disappointing that's why supercurio release voodoo hack to enhance audio quality. even after enhanced, the audio is not satisfying. I bought 100$ sony MDR xd 400 as an upgrade from my sennheiser HD 202ii.. i was very disappointed when i plugged in to my nexus s as the sound is simply disappointing for its price range, i almost re-sell my headset then i tried my 5800 back.. Its a hugeeee different between 5800xm and nexus s (no exaggerating, but really it's a huge different). because of the horrible audio quality (and sadly after a month of using it i'm getting used to it because first it was horrible then after voodoo fix, it gets better), i almost forgot what is a good sound.. and gsmarena dare to give it a "very good audio quality". i'm disappointed with the review from GSMarena, i will hardly believe their audio quality test from now on..

I have Nexus S for 1 week so far! Good call quality and loudspeaker in comparison to HTC phones. Also 720p video is pure marketing trick. I have seen many videos 720p which are worse quality than this phone can produce. 16 GM internal memory is faster than SD memory and OK if you don't want to store 3,000 songs and 500 videos on your cell phone. So far I have about 1,000 songs and 30 videos + 500 photos and it is more than 1/2 empty. GSM arena review is misleading. They expected something exraordinary from Google but I think Google wanted supplemental developers' ground phone in addition to Nexus One (discontinued, with no support any more) so they can develop and test their software releases. Of course, next Google phone will be dual core, and whatever other feature you name.....but this phone will serve you well for the next 2 years, believe me!!! GSM arena reviewers are too picky because that's their job but actually you wan't care about 50% of phone features after couple of months use... This is a good phone, Samsung and Google limited the price tag and released a test phone for their purposes. Nexus One was a beast software and hardware and more expensive than this one too...

Kinda disappointed with the reviews. I owned this phone for 2 months and it performs well and smooth without any issues mentioned. It definitely better than my previous Galaxy S as nexus doesn't need to Root and lagfix inorder to perform basic phone functions! It was a shame of samsung releasing Slow galaxy S into market. So i'm glad that i've changed it to Nexus S for the Best user experience.
And please don't ever compare to those yet to release handset (especially Dual Core phone). Do Hand-on and review it before judging Nexus S has lower specs not competitive to newer handset. Time will tell if the Dual core handset works as expected comparing to Nexus S.

I dont think the Nexus S has to sweat the Arc. For one, SE is not known to update their devices in a timely manner. Plus their aftermarket support sucks big time. The Nexus S would probably have the next duration of Android way ahead of the Arc, assuming it even does get it.
