What I really don't like is Samsung phones, I'm just not blind and I know that their Super AMOLED technology is one of best out there and LCD is already an outdated technology that can't beat AMOLED. I have nothing against their phones, I'm only realistic.
Yeah yeah, I'm a geek them, so what? You will find geeks all over this website discussing different things all the time, you are happy with the screen? Good. That doesn't takes my right to discuss about "geeky" things if I want to.

That's quite funny though that you say that you hate the "creaky Symbian", while you had a C6-01 that's a quite recent device. So, why would you lose your money to buy a mid-end device from a OS that you hate so much?
Only a observation though, you can go happy to the "almighty" Android realm, I just wish that you won't have the same bad luck. :)

I'm actually on my 2nd C6-01 after the first one had a) a speaker fault b) a screen fault (thin black lines going down the length of the screen - common fault apparently and finally c) the battery cover didnt stay on, so that makes a mockery of your better screen and build quality snipe doesnt it? My replacement has the SAME screen fault and carphone warehouse (UK) are letting me replace the underwhelming nokia for the SE Neo when it lands and i can't wait tbh. At the end of the day, i'm not a fanboy of any brand and think YOUR blind loyalty to Nokia and their creaky symbian^3 os is great, good for you, but theres people out there that do hate all things symbian, and prefer android and i'm jumping ship buddy. :D

With SuperAmoled, you will end up with 30% lower resolution due to RGB pixel structure. You will only get something like 640x360 compared to standard LCD with full 854x480. Meaning standard LCD is more crisp. That limitation is fixed in Samsung Galaxy S II with "Super Amoled PLUS" but it's not even out yet.

AnonD-1544, 17 Mar 2011 Accuse me of what you want I really don't care bro. Like ... moreBravia Engine is a challenger only for regular LCDs, Yeah yeah, words means nothing against reality, so does pictures. I don't really need to see picture comparasions again, because just as I've said, you can only really see the difference when you hold it on your hands (just like GSMArena did). Also, since you know it's a LCD you know that it can't match OLED tecnhology so it's completelly impossible for Bravia Engine overcome a Super AMOLED screen. I'll say again: it's completelly impossible. LCD have limitations that doesn't exist on AMOLED technology.
You can argue as much as you want, but the fact is that Super AMOLED is miles ahead and if you say to someone that Bravia Engine is better than Super AMOLED, people will only laugh to you.
Seriously, you not accepting the fact that LCD can't match AMOLED, let alone Super AMOLED, is just pathetic.
There's absolutely nothing that the Xperia screen does better than Super AMOLED and even a regular AMOLED, just like there's nothing proving that Arc camera will beat the N8 camera. Xperia Arc is a nice and good-looking handset and that's all, it's not coming to beat anything, you need to stop with fanboyism and wake up to reality.

Accuse me of what you want I really don't care bro. Like I mentioned before seeing is believing, so you can say what ever you want about superamoled but from the link I provided this clearly shows that we have a new challenger in the screen game which is the Bravia engine from Sony.

Words mean nothing against reality! And reality proved that the reality display is no regular LCD screen. Regardless, if I'm a sony fan or not, the pictures speak for themselves, go see them again because it seems your the one who is blind.

Even the owner of the blog which is very objective by the way mentioned that the Arc rules this game. So, now the Arc has an amazing display and also a brilliant camera beating both the Galaxy s and nokia n8 in their own game.

Wow sony! Very impressed with what you have done.

AnonD-1544, 17 Mar 2011 Well we have seen a lot of comparisons in the past in pic... moreLook mate, I understand you are a Sony fanboy, but don't let it blinds you. I don't like Samsung phones but I have to agree that Super AMOLED is simply on of the best screens out there.
I'm completelly sure that you never used an AMOLED phone.
I will say again: you can only see the true power of AMOLED when you have it on your hands, if you're telling me that you could see noticeable differences between regular LCDs and Super AMOLED but can not see it now, it may be simply because this Bravia Engine is improved over regular LCDs, but I'll say again: still can't match AMOLED. Even the iPhone 4 Retina display that dramatically improves the LCD contrast (more than this Bravia Engine) can't match AMOLED. How can you say that Bravia Engine can be even better than Super AMOLED?
AMOLED screens don't have simply "better blacks", the AMOLED blacks are made of turned off pixels, it's REAL black, not a shade of gray. Watch the screen on the dark is simply unbelievable. And that doesn't apply only to blacks. since the blacks are dramatically improved, so is the overall contrast and obviously all the picture quality is improved.
AMOLED doesn't produce over saturated colors, everything looks more vivid but that's due the high contrast, the colors are by no means "unrealistic". In fact, since the contrast is unbeatable and the viewing angles have negligible effect, AMOLED shows picture how they really should be. And don't tell me that viewing angles isn't important, since when you are sharing something on the screen with a friend or is trying to take a picture, it obviously make a huge difference. You're not always looking exactly in front of the phone screen.
Again, I know you are a Sony fanboy and there's no problem with that, just don't let it blinds you.

AnonD-3713, 16 Mar 2011No LCD can match even a regular AMOLED. LCD needs backligh... more
Well we have seen a lot of comparisons in the past in pictures between regular LCD's and Superamoled's and there was a noticeable difference.

So I wonder why this doesn't apply now? Is it because the Bravia engine display looks so good?! Or is it because people just want to believe that amoled is better no matter what.

Seeing is believing and from the pics I could safely say that the Bravia was as good as the superamoled if not better! Remember Amoled screens are better in blacks but they are over saturated and produce unrealistic colors compared to LCD screens.

So considering LCD's produce more natural colors and also considering that the Bravia engine produced amazing quality compared to the Superamoled I can say this is a big win for the new s/e screens.

                        Well done Sony!

Hope, 16 Mar 2011 Do you guys still believe that the Sony Bravia display is... moreNo LCD can match even a regular AMOLED.
LCD needs backlighting what makes the "black" look shades of gray and ruin the overall contrast, AMOLED however doesn't need backlighting and black are really blacks and the overall contrast is unbeateable. They can do whatever they want to improve LCD, but it will never match AMOLED, even the iPhone 4 retina display is no match for AMOLED.
And to make things even worse, it's not a typical AMOLED display but a Super AMOLED.
You can watch hundres of video or picture comparassions, but it's no use, you can only see the true power of AMOLED when you hold it on your hands, not comparing pictures on a LCD monitor.

N95 was simply the best phone in the market, N96 was disaponting, N97 was terrible and helped to destroy Symbian reputation in the touch era, N8 was decent, but considering it's a Nseries device, it's by no means a huge sucess like N95 and all older devices.
I guess Nokia was simply used to be the best option in the market and they didn't thought that the competition was stronger than ever.
I don't defend Symbian saying it have a bright future ahead, I just don't accept people bashing it all the time because every OS has it flaws (and Android flaw isn't simply negligible, it's just that the great UI and the high marketing factor make people ignore it) and there are some nice S^3 handset on the market that while may not compete with the high-end market, they have plenty of stuff that might make you choise it over another phones, however, most people are simply brain-washed that Symbian is old, stupid and dead while Android is pure awesomeness, so they simply ignore these phones.
I agree that other OS are more fun when you are speaking about UI, but seriously, even with a smaller market, I never needed an app that doesn't exist, Android and iOS market might offer more variety but that's all, and there are also alot of useless apps on every smartphone store.
Anyway, Symbian might be forgotten in the future since the stupid Microsoft partnership, or maybe not, if the unannounced Nokia E6 is really true, maybe will keep Symbian living in another direction.

Ok fair enough, however, this doesn't change the fact that Nokia's market share is declining every year right? So, Nokia needed to do something different because like I asserted earlier most of the people are fed up with old grandpa symbian.

You must understand that people like change and demand it! And symbian is not serving this at all. Symbian has been here for ages but when you look at how much apps you could get with ios or android you will understand why those latter os's are far more fun than symbian.

If you like symbian that's fine, I must agree it's a good os and bashing it all the time is not acceptable, and it's mostly from fanboys that don't have a deep understanding of technology. However, defending the os is also wrong, symbian has it's major flaws as well.

I totally understand why people would pick android over symbian. The fact alone that android is evolving very fast and symbian is still so slow is enough to make people stick with it. Android is the future and symbian is in the past, and keeping in mind that nokia will use wp7 as their major os for smartphones is also a fact that will not make me put any hope on symbian in the future. The os is old and it's dieing, so trust me defending it all the time will do you no good.

Your defending a case that has already lost the battle! Meego may have a chance but symbian I don't think it stands a chance.
