Meh, the only "screen" that matches ppi of the forbidden fruit mobile is the Samsung Wave (GT-S8500), no other mobile comes close.

Forbidden Fruit
640 x 960 pixels, 3.5 inches
= 274ppi

Samsung Wave
480 x 800 pixels, 3.3 inches
= 242ppi

Then you need to have a look at the underlying technology
IPS LCD v Super AMOLED

Many people who use the Forbidden Fruit mobile say theirs is the best in daylight, tilt daylight and internal conditions, yet when they have a look at the Wave's Super AMOLED screen in the same conditions they all say that the Wave has better performance levels.

Then in terms of battery consumption its well known in the TV sector that Edge-Lit and Full Back-lit LED TV's have lower power usage which also reflects in mobile technology, Nokia even knows this as they current batch of S^3 handsets are AMOLED, Samsung have known since their first AMOLED handset the Omnia HD (back in March 2009) and even Forbidden Fruit know this also as the next IPHONE will have AMOLED screen which is why LG have decided to "only now" start to develop their own IPS LCD screens for their handset range as their is no longer a no compete clause from Forbidden Fruit company to prevent LG from doing so.

In fact the next IPHONE screen will come from Samsung will be AMOLED but wont be called AMOLED based technology as Forbidden Fruit company like to take things that are already developed and made and then claim it as their own new technology that they invented.

Well obviously, GSM arena intentionaly did not include the review for sunlight legibilty and power consumption which are the strength of LG black. Maybe somehow it is unfair for LG black.

"Retina display is still the best LCD around matched only by Nokia’s Clear Black screens."

What? Nokia Clear Black is for AMOLED screens and not LCD!

Why Nokia Clear Black display wasn't in this test? It's totally awesome! Or maybe they didn't take it as it would have beaten this lot hands down :D

Hope these NOVA screens are on the next iphone. LG make the IPS retina screens for the iphone 4, so it could happen. That would be sweet!

I cannot believe you left sunlight legibility out of your review. this is one of the most important features of a screen. stupid viewing angles are really meaningless compared to sunlight legibility.

GSMarena, please explain how you can judge if a display is producing clear whites from a photo? How did you set up your camera's white balance for the lighting of the displays (as you should know white balance should be set with a neutral gray or white card in the ambient light the photo is to be taken)? Actually you can make any of the phone's white look like true white which will make the other phone's displays look tinted. Pretty much the same what human eyes do in different lighting conditions - they automatically adjust their "white balance" so you can see true colors. The only way you can objectively judge from a photo the quality of the white, is to shoot it in a lit room with a calibrated white card and have your camera's white balance set with that card in the same lighting. Shooting in a dark room with only the light provided by the displays makes no sense at all.

I have to say that I'm not saying that NOVA display does not provide true white. I'm sure that it does, otherwise LG wouldn't say it does, but I feel that GSMarena being a fairly technical site should pay more attention to the technical details in the reviews.
