HTC Sensation review: Front-page stuff

10 June 2011
HTC burst right onto the dual-core scene with a phone that's set to be an Android sensation. They've gone all out with the design of that one - from screen, through camera to the powerful chipset. No cutting corners, no compromise on features. Update, 02.08.2011: Video summary of the review added...

Needs to be compared more with the Desire HD, HTC's last attempt at a large screen superphone. Although its obvious this is better than the Desire HD, it would have been nice to have seen it refered to more than just at the end.

Especially since a lot of HTC fans with the Desire HD have been looking at the Sensation as the next logical step. Myself included.

Lol, it looks like this is a race to have the best phones. Who has the best phone in the word!? you will have it surely, but not for too long. There will alway be a better option, because technology is evolving rapidly. So, come on guys! if you like this phone, just but it. If you don´t like it, stop trying to show off as if you have the best phone in the world, because, let me tell you, it´s gonna pass.

With Sense and reasonable shape, Sensation is more suitable for everyday use than GS2. GS2 is more for showoff to your friend, higher performance but barely any noticeable difference in everyday use. Thats the deal, Audi or BMW.

GS2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Sensation. Specs on paper GS2 was already better but with the review it's now 100% clear that GS2 dominates.

sensation has way better Audio quality and galaxy s 2 is faster, better camera and gaming :(..im confuseedddd :( :(

Anyone who thinks HTC Sensation takes better video in 1080p and pictures have clearly NOT seen what the Galaxy S II are good for.

I use a modified version of the camera application on my Galaxy S II and recorded this clip: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7309753/Android/Samsung%20Galaxy%20S%20II/video-2011-06-03-15-29-56.mp4

Anyone who can give me a proof that another smart phone that can record in 1080p that can record with better quality that my Galaxy S II is going to be my hero for the rest of my life.

But just to be very clear on what i'm talking about. No other smart phones in the world comes even close to the video quality on the Galaxy S II.

HTC Sensation takes really horrible pictures compared to Samsung Galaxy S II. And the video quality is okish on the Sensation, but is far from getting close to Galaxy S II.

And about the performance on the Galaxy S II. You can throw whatever you want on the phone even after putting up a 1080p flash movie or two in the background and do whatever you like without getting the Galaxy S II to lag at all.

Try that with the Sensation. It will lag horribly then.

So in the end, the Galaxy S II just stomps over the HTC Sensation any days.

Anyone who buys a Sensation over a Galaxy S II does it just for the Sense 3.0 skin.

Why the small rom and internal storage size not covered in this review? Also the person writing this needs to learn to use comma and better his vocab.

In my perspective, it's a unibody. Detachable unibody to be exact. Well, every electronics in this world is detachable.

Hmmm, Galaxy S2 does have more vivid colours and a more powerful processor, and I probably would have gone for it if it matched sensation's pixel density. But I think i'll go for sensation's crisper screen, will make for easier browsing/reading, and that's what i'm gonna be using it most for. Processor power i'm not too fussed about - doubt it'll make much of a different in everyday use, and sensation's dual-core chip is still one of the fastest out there.

The Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II is the obvious alternative - it's powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core too. But the camera does better, the 4.3" SuperAMOLED Plus is brilliant and the chipset (that is CPU, GPU and RAM) is faster in benchmarks. It's also amazingly thin and light.

PRICELESS !! Whooshh and there it go's by by sensation

Do you think we are really commenting on a mobile or a gaming machine. Is the software driving the hardware or visa versa. Should we think of this as a mobile phone any more or a personal tool (no pun intended). So comparisons in the future will be personal tool against personal tool.

Gsmarena is not fair in there review , htc sensation is great phone, downside is expensive, i rather buy iphone 4, much fornalmost same price? Or samsung wave2
Htc you make adjust your pricing , for the market to know you are existing htc,.

guys ,GSM arena review is unbiased ,it matches what's been said on techradar & engadget.
they all said that this is a very good phone but it's second to the galaxy SII in lot's of areas (screen ,camera ,speed,...etc).
it's a great device ,but not yet fully optimized ,maybe a future software update will solve some of it's problems eh?

Not experienced death grip, this phone is a brilliant all rounder and build quality definitely clinches it. When I get bored, I flip to my Silver Arc which at the moment is the most thumbable piece of kit around.

Thought about SGS II for about 10 secs but the moment I saw that paper thin back cover and the overall plasticky feel, it was a deal breaker. Android is not optimnised for dual core yet, so specs race is not an issue. In conclusion, the arc gives me everything I need, looks in abundance, quality feel, great screen, camera and functionality, especially since the firmware update to 2.3.3. When I get bored, out comes the Sense UI, a thing of beauty. Damn, my IP4 is feeling a bit neglected at the moment.

Don't care for your views as it is purely a matter of personal choice and I LOVE my choice.
