Samsung S8600 Wave 3 preview: Exclusive first look

30 August 2011
Samsung's top Bada phone has reached the third iteration - the S8600 Wave 3 maintains the slim, metal body tradition of its predecessors and goes back to SuperAMOLED (four whole inches of it). Bada OS itself has made the jump to a new...

For some reason Wave 1 still looks the best. All the new ones looks sort of cheap.

I am quite dissapointed about new Wave.
I was expecting something at least dual-core (1GHz would be enough) with 1GB RAM and high tech Adreno GPU.
Despite this they left camera with same quality (was looking for improvment to 8 megapixels with 1080 video recordin), same amount of internal memory (awww... come on 2GB is not enough even with micro sd slot) and...
Screen... It's bigger, it's more comfortable to use becouse of it's size, it's brilliant and astonishing after all, but... IT HAVE A PEN TILE MATRIX...
At least there are some improvments, slightly (yes i know it's 40% different from old one) better CPU, Wi-Fi with direct functionality, a lot faster mobile connectivity and... NFC (which I think is useless)

I was looking forward to Wave 3 becouse of all this information that it will be Galaxy S II of Bada OS.
Sadly it isn't. It's only Galaxy S Plus.

Hopefully Bada OS 2.0.1 will show better things and will be like a milestone of this system... But after what they did to Wave 3 i doubt it.

I have the original Wave. There is nothing in this version to attract me to change. The original Wave has stunning battery life for a smartphone - I charge mine maybe twice a week, sometimes only once. The Wave 3 looks to have worse battery life. They should have added an on\off facility for the GPS in the notification bar as well as an indicator that it is on. Taking away a physical camera shutter button is also a step backwards and not upgrading the camera from the one that was in the Jet S8000 is near inexcusable. If the screen is only 800x600 resolution then that too is a step backwards from the original wave, because that had that resolution and because of it's smaller size, the screen dpi was around 283 which made it look very sharp and smooth

Navigation icon looks awfully similar to Safari icon.

          Hi Guys

Is it possible to test PDF/Document reading functionality on this phone (and other smart phones - like Sony E's Arc, NEO, Sammy' Galaxy and so on? )

That's a bit thing for many of the users out there

          Thanks

I don't know if you could call it copying (Though pressed I suppose you could) but its a matter of not reinventing the wheel for themselves.

They designed the interface in terms of how it works in their Android phones with TouchWiz. To me it would only make perfect sense for them to reuse this interface, in a way that won't lead their users astray.

A company that uses multiple GUIs that perform differently would for the most part only seek to confuse and annoy most users.

Its essentially ever since iOS has been out, most of its graphical UI hasn't changed dramatically.

Where you're coming from, while its understandable, its still not as justified as Nokia who has never dealt with android before coming out with an operating system that looks SIMILAR to android, who came out with what first is a different thing altogether.

i really liked the wave 1 when it first came out coz it has a high end specs(that time) and a fresh design. But this wave 3 is a total mess. Almost same design, underwhelming specs and really brings nothing in the table except for the upgraded OS. IMO, the recently announced Nokia 701 is much more interesting (specs & software wise) and ofcourse, much cheaper than this.

When will you finally get it? There is NO bada 2.0.1 and there probably never will! that's something dumb users asumed. the "1" is because of the year 2011. next you see, the month, day...
why doesn't samsung prevent you of spreading such a rubbish?

Awfully expensive crap phone. Watching the user interface demo almost everything is copied from android and it's really laggy

This is gsmarena's comment when samsung completely copied from android to bada

And when nokia copied just the notification bar from android to symbian they bashed at it

                        What is this GSMARENA?????

could be better :(. All spec is about low price for this phone, like Wave I. Bada 2 looks and works nice, but still need more work for better optimalized cos little laggy.
