[deleted post]the reason that made Symbian great OS is the same reason for Android Open Source, every brand used Symbian OS with their own customizations YES Symbian WAS great OS until NOKIA bought it no one want to be slave to NOKIA that's when other brands went to Windows Mobile like SE Xperia X1 and Samsung Omina and they where doing great... so the big oicture that everyone was looking for alternative and NOKIA stuck with Symbian

let's ask you something if Symbian is a great OS why NOKIA is considring WP7 OR Maemo?

        @Abadi

Sorry, you can't be taken seriously as a simple search on Wiki would have told you that Maemo has been around for considerably longer than Android.

        Silly boy.

I do not agree with your "the main menu has changed as well - it's now completely flat, no level upon level of subfolders nonsense any more. Or at least not by default" - i tend to prefer folders, totally hate scrolling thru hundreds of icons.

What i miss also is having folders in the gallery... That way I kn0w I can stash my xXx items in a safe place (wer I kn0w they wil n0t be found) and Albums do n0t provide that. I enjoyed ths function back in '06 on my Nokia 6233

I understand why Nokia insist using the double tap on the camera interface. That's because when you tap once you can preview the effect on the viewfinder... I really see no problem with that, it's really useful in fact. When you change the flash settings, for example, you tap only once because you can't preview the flash effect.

guys please stop stupid chat on OS related issue. Now phones are about personal computing.

guys do you think PCs of Sony, Lenovo, Acer, DEll, HP etc are differentiated in their way but they all use MICROSOFT OS ..............

Phones are also going in this way now Android and I OS is moving quickly forward because more people start liking it. And i think in this present situation Android will win the race because there are thousands of developers exists to make it improved and they are doing it in every second. Lets see how far Nokia can go with symbian which not bad but not enough to compete in present situation

Symbian belle looks awesome. They should have done this from the get go instead of releasing broken touch symbian on devices with really limited hardware functionality. I will buy an e7 or e6 today if belle is available for download on those devices!

AnonD-733, 07 Sep 2011i'm sorry but i can't verify Ur story of Android is copy o... moreThe reason why you never heard about Maemo is because you are probably a 13 old american boy that only heard about smartphones when iPhone came to market.
You simply bashed N900 and didn't said why it sucks so much, it's also funny to see that all other reviewers thinks exactly the opposite of you.
Maemo failed because it was somewhat limited on functionality, it was mad for phone-tablet devices that weren't really sucesfull, but it introduced the multiple homescreen and widgets and flat menu structure that Android copied. The only reason that Android is sucesfull is because every brainless manufacturer can use it freely.
What do you mean by "born dead"? You mean that Symbian was born dead? God, I really pity you. Symbian was the first and the most sucesfull smartphone OS and without it your beloved Android wouldn't even exist. Everything that Android have that wasn't copied from Maemo was copied from Symbian.

And why do Nokia have that stupid thing with two loudspeaker grills and only one speaker? It's no wonder Nokia are losing so badly- things like this aren't going to convince people to buy. I find it sad

I'm not sure if I agree with them leaving nothing to chance- a fixed focus camera is extremely poor in what is meant to be a high end device and an absolute deal breaker.

The pull down menu is a... morei'm sorry but i can't verify Ur story of Android is copy of Maemo because i never heard of Maemo only the N900 that's it and it's the worst, ugliest and Overpriced phone i ever seen...

Google is doing great job look at Android in 2 years took over the market and drops iOS from the top and apple is so scared that's why they doing their best to stop Android from expanding out there and i'm sure they will failed

and let's get real u guys are fake u don't love Maemo or even care U just trying to protect NOKIA from the embarrassment... why we didn't heard of maemo until Android came out once again what was maemo before android? to me it was nothing because the real test for success is the market how many devices released by HTC with Maemo OS or SE or NOKIA so far or samsung or LG... maybe one or two who knows? but the market has spoke maemo failed that's why it doesn't exist anymore and that's why someone like me never heard of it till now.

my advice to you NOKIA stop protecting and defending something was born dead and focus on WP7 and hopefully will do good job otherwise this Symbian phones won't stand a chance even with coping other OS

very nice phone for the good price,, but why did not nokia include a HDMI-out here like n8??!!! nowadays not only flagships have this privilage! anyhow about 200€ would be a fair price by 2011-2012 standrds, considering that 1ghz cpu + 512mb ram are no longer a high-end, sub-standrd browser (by 2011 definitions!), and that symbian belle still needs time to catch on apps (why no xvid/divex support ou-of-the-box too?? with this screen it would have made an excellent video player!),, for 200€ i know this gadget can sell a couble of million units!

only the Accenture group is working behind symbian OS or some other 3rd party also??

Belle looks like htc's ui bcos of, the color of the homescreen and the round edged clock icon..

Nokia WORLD is coming up... Sure They'll show new symbian devices.
In next mwc they'll launch the new version of version..
