This is such a great phone, only a few things I'd change. Memory (add a 32 GB model), duel core, 4G (preferably LTE), larger battery (because 4G and duel core suck energy like nothing else). All in all though, it takes the amazingly simplistic approach of iOS, and then adds features never before seen (the multi-tasking panel). Also, flash support would have been nice, but when/if they add a better browser (tabbed and flash supported), I think it will be one of the best phones on the market.

I don't know if going with WP7 is the correct choice but Nokia should really consider making new devices for MeeGo. At the moment Elop has already declared it dead.
It might get support at first but then later it's just mediocre apps.
Keeping a proprietary OS such as Harmattan is good if WP7 fails to impress.
As for as SGSII support is concerned I won't be worried. Cyanogen is there and it'll keep on rolling update. They even got support from Samsung.

The main reason most persons around are hesitant to purchase this phone is because it's first and last model that Nokia is bringing out, also many are concerned about updates, how many of you persons use a mobile phone for over let's say 4 to 6 years?,I'm sure if Elop and others didn't announce that they don't have much plans for the platform in 2 years from now, many of you wouldn't even know and go purchase it.
It's definitely a great piece of work. No phone is perfect, people expect mobile phones today to do every god damn thing and i mean they expect it to be perfect.
Stop the complaining ,it's great work they've done and I'm sure like they've said they will support updates until 2016, that those updates will come.
I will definitely get one because it's the first and last of it's kind(so it seems), the swype style is exactly what i was looking for in a mobile phone, has great multi-tasking & simply gets the job done.
Remember even though it's a smartphone, it's still a phone.
It's really hard to please people in the mobile world.

Good review but why oh why must GSMarena make it seem that it's the most expensive phone there is when it isn't?? FYI, SGSII is pricier by 3,000-5,000 bucks in my country and iphone4 by about 16,000. So again, it's not pricey and I will definitely buy it this November!

Ed, 15 Oct 2011Okay, beautiful phone. I loved the concept. But can we move... moreOK, so you are a Samsung fanboy.
First: how can you say that the iPhone 4S camera is better since it was even released on the market yet? You really believe those fake samples that they put on the web?
What minor details were missing on the user interface?
Obviously even the Bada app repository is better, it's on the market for much longer time and there a lot of other phones. That's what I call a fair comparasion.
Also, the GSII browser doesn't have text reflow too, and it doesn't make any difference as long as the page fit the screen perfectly at 100%, most people only zooming in to open links anyway.
The only problem with this phone is Nokia itself that abandoned it.

Ed, 15 Oct 2011Okay, beautiful phone. I loved the concept. But can we move... morePeople are much more obsessed with iphone 4s. this one, hardly. No iphone for me, too much dependence on iXXX & too expensive. Samsung, lol, it'll last less than the support for N9.

I get the reviews that n9 meego will be obsolete, which is why nokia is doing the same phone pretty much in mango form. But its sad to bring out a meego n9, (late by the way) cause the mango nokia 800 will be out latest Q1 2012. I guess its better to try somthing new which they have with n9 then nothing at all, for it being very delayed is one big issue.
IE if n9 was out begining of this year, it would be at least 8 months old now and have been updated around 2 times, would be more worthy of the price and out when galaxy s2 wasnt out yet, so better sales too. Still even an n9 or nokia 800 isnt good enough, we need a galaxy s3 kind of statts on mango os from nokia to rule again, thats what they must aim for, not all this low end stuff and experimentations. They need agame changer like the n95, is harder to do these things these days but there is a windows for new tech like NFC, projectors, build quality material, camera opticals zooms in thin designs, etc

Pity Nokia did this to Meego... I actually love this OS... And a beautiful design too... Now only if Nokia had shown some cleverness they would have developed this OS more as with more love this can really become one of the top OSs out there... And who knows Nokia could have regained its former glory... Now one can really hope Mango update is as good as Meego or at least near it otherwise Nokia should really be kicking its own butt for such a mistake!!!!

Promising OS, abandoned by Nokia. I do hope the Nokia-WP7 marriage pays off, or else Nokia would want to be kicking themselves in the butt.

Okay, beautiful phone. I loved the concept. But can we move on now and stop getting obsessed with it?
Image quality produced by iPhone 4S seems to be better than what N9 can offer.
Pretty user interface but they missed out few(/many) minor details.
Even app repository of Bada is better. And no, N9 is going N900. It'll get few interesting apps from dev community but then nothing further.
Disappointing browser considering the time Nokia had to learn from their mistakes and others browser. No text reflow? So it's switching to some 3rd party browser. Not impressive.
Way better phone out there that do the far better job at the same price. Galaxy S2.

Oh no.. What a mistake by the (F)Elop.. Read full review.. Fantastic device.. More than 3500 features r coming to this phone on first update.. That means they'll fulfil the missings in current version.. GsmA u hav noted considerable disadvantages.. Thank u.. And about the missing flash support in browser is same as ios5.. One Man Army killed by his own squad.. So sad.. Kill the elop..

Amazing Phone, it has looks, performence from both the hardware and software side. Too bad that Nokia is doing everithing they can so that people won`t buy this phone...
The blue N9 looks beautifull, i just may buy this one once the price begins to settle down.

Anonymous, 15 Oct 2011looks like a nice OS, too bad it's doomed from the very beg... moreCheck out MyNokiaBlog. They got a tip that the N9 is getting an update to bring in 3500 improvements to it. Is that enough for you?

That's a beautiful Phoenix she is. It's a shame. Quite a shame. If I would own her, she'll be mine for a long, long time. Scratch that, she would be mine forever.

Hmm... in terms of official product releases, the N9 isn't the first touch only OS. That would be Android Honeycomb.
There's no physical buttons other than the power and volume keys like the N9.

The lack of top line management in Nokia is their direct enemy which easily earns "The shameless rivalry of all time".

To sum it all up:
It's a great phone but not for the price they're asking.
