As a Galaxy S II owner, one thing I'm truly jealous about is the penta-band 3G... Damn I wish I had that.

The more I read the review, the more I hate Elop. He shouldn't kill MeeGo and Symbian, just do this:
1. MeeGo for high-end smartphone
2. WP7 for mid and high-end smartphone
3. Symbian (with Qt) for mid and low-end smartphone
4. Meltemi for not-so-dumb phone (as it based on Linux)
But all I know is Microsoft fanboys are evil, Elop is no exception.

looks like a nice OS, too bad it's doomed from the very beginning... wouldn't want to buy a phone that costs that much to be stuck with no updates or apps because the brand cancelled their own "son" :\

In Australia the N9 costs the same as a Galaxy S II, makes it harder to choose though...

It looks neat, but I'm waiting for the 800. I can't say I understand why Nokia have to sprout new platforms left and right. They are admittedly good at it, but as long as only a handful of devices run them it only ends up with consumers having to pay to partake of a tech demo. If they planned ahead they could have evolved all-touch functionality into Symbian and made that OS more versatile for different configurations. I think planning ahead is quite important – I'm pretty sure Microsoft were holding onto WP7 for a while while waiting for displays with enough pixels needed to make the typography driven design of that OS to work to become commonplace.
Oh, and finally, speaking about Symbian – "open" Symbian was a great idea, but what they should have done that probably would have worked out great would have been to open up Ovi and make it into "Ovi Symbian Market" instead of the foundation's half-hearted attempt with Symbian Horizon which failed to attract much attention.
Maybe a bit off topic, but I've had my SE Vivaz for a while and have consistently run into situations along the lines of "Get our nice free app... at Ovi!"
But yes, on it's own, the N9 does look like a great phone. I really like the design... the featureless smoothness speaks to me... like a HTC without the molded additions their devices have. Or maybe a bit like a high tech pet rock... :) And judging by the fev images of the 800 is looks like the finish of the plastic as a bit smoother, and if it keeps the display quality and and there are no nasty surprises when it comes to things like audio output I'd say that I agree that the 800 (or one of the other Mango phones that probably will come along with it) is the one to get.

No need for another OS... Android is free and getting better every day with tons of apps. Even WM7 is doomed. Bye bye Nokia you bet on the wrong horses meego and WM7

Like the n900, the n9 has the hardware for a fm radio, its just not shipping with one built in.
the problem i now have with nokia is, it is forcing its users to switch to windows phone, rather than offering its users what they want. as the n9 isn't coming to the uk, it looks like nokia have left me with no choice but to go to android.
I've been waiting for the follow up to the n900 since the n900 launched, and now its here, nokia wants me to buy windows. i don't think so. bye bye nokia

BazookaBR, 14 Oct 2011Great review! Here in Brazil Nokia N9 is already in pre-ord... moreI can confirm that the N9 is way cheaper than the Galaxy SII here in Brazil.
I've just preordered mine. Sadly delivery should be in the vicinity of the 18th of november. Long days ahead of me.
Oh, and BTW, Elop can eat my shorts, that sell out.

they shouldn't have come out with this device, now i'm actually thinking of buying one... One problem though: the absolute lack of customization. That's why i went for android instead of ios in the first place.
