Nokia 701 review: Belles and whistles

17 October 2011
Symbian Belle is on the march and the leader of the pack is the Nokia 701. It busts out the big guns - a 1,000 nit floodlight of a screen, a fast, modern processor and an up-to-the-minute connectivity package, complete with NFC. If you're experiencing a deja vu, rest assured...

Interesting that it needed all manufacturers of hardware except apple to gang up together to oust only one manufacturer "Nokia" off the reign.

You wrote the following about voice dialing:
"Bear in mind too, that if you have multiple numbers assigned to a contact, the system will either dial the default number or the first in the list."
I have an C7 with Anna, and I can get it to call other numbers than the default one. If I have a contact with multiple numbers and have chosen the predefined work and home fields for the numbers for example, then I can make it call the work number by saying contact name - work.
Is this something that has been removed?

The specifications of the phones you've listed as alternatives don't even come within a mile radius of 701's.

Your Comment: The 701 can be charged off microUSB, so we don't know why Nokia used an old-school charger - microUSB chargers have the advantage of being compatible with other gadgets too.

Reason: The phone has USB OTG. So if you are viewing a video off your USB, large downloads through your portable Flash drive.....you do not need to stop the task, but charge through the 2mm port

Verdict: gsmarena is a good website, but improve your review with more intelligent thinking

New device by Nokia is now official:
                http://www.developer.nokia.com/Devices/Device_specifications/T7-00/
looks just like the C7 specifications to me

                  @GSMArena
Do you mind to perform your usual battery life test, as in the HTC Desires S review.
In the Nokia 701 one, you just quote the technical statements from Nokia, I'd like to get the truth from you, as I expect within each phone review you do.
I'm wondering which one will best suit my needs between Desire S and 701. the main parameters were alloy body and scratch resistant display, lowest SAR and great battery life.
Many thanks for your great help.
                  B/R.
