Yes, a bunch of these features were already present on Symbian, but I'm glad to see Android continue to evolve and mature. After Nokia ditches Symbian, I'm gonna need some alternative, and it's sure not gonna be anything with a fruit logo.

Diego, 19 Oct 2011Disapointing, as much as i read about android more im sure ... moreMaemo 5 and 6 are the best OSs ever. Intuitive, simple, fast, unique. Symbian is next, old school, but the richest in functionality and best at battery saving.

Symbian is very good OS but lack polishing. Widget concept is firstly used in Mameo OS and Android copied it and polished it. Also NFC is copied by everyone. Lets pray that Windows Phone from Nokia will do some magic for them.
Actually I love Android OS with HTC. Now just waiting to watch how will be the combination of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and HTC sense

for Apple folks here - let's compare middle class here:
iPhone4 16GB = £390 pounds
Google Nexus S 16GB = £240 (sealed, unlocked)
is iPhone4(not S) worth additional £150 pounds as its internals are made also by Samsung (A4 chip)?
build quality: iPhone4 wins, Nexus S is all plastic & no gorilla glass...
Operating System: iOS5 vs Android 4.0 (coming in November) - iOS5 gets badly crushed here, no questions
RAM: both 512MB
CPU: both 1 GHz Cortex-A8
GPU: PowerVR SGX535GPU vs PowerVR SGX540 (Nexus wins + has to draw less pixels in 3D)
Display: 3.5 inch (640 x 960 IPS LCD) vs 4 inch (480 x 800 Super AMOLED) - Nexus wins cos of better contrast, viewing angles/screen estate (hw buttons do not obscure screen like on iOS) & keyboard-typing experience due to bigger screen/choice of keyboards to use
Audio quality: iPhone 4 wins, although Nexus S gets very good sonic output + plays _much_ more musical loseless formats and has _much_ wider range of music players
Choice is yours, by the end of 2012 Cyanogen 9 will be out with ICS for around 70 devices, choice will be much harder? Or will it?

AnonD-26896, 19 Oct 2011Is there some mind control going on? Cant really put my fin... moreICS will probably have more optimisations. Gingerbread was the one to optimize battery consumption.
And manufacturers already started fitting larger batteries . And motorola now offers a build in app to optimize performance and battery consumtion.
You cant have performance at no aditional side effect.

Is there some mind control going on? Cant really put my finger on it.
Most of these features on ICS and iOS5 were long ass time ago available on a now pronounced dead system Symbian. When i read this list of features I go like "really?didnt have that yet?wow".
And dude that wrote this article is like impressed with so many innovative so called features that should be standard several years ago. Are you kidding me?
What should be praised is when google/apple/nokia manage to squeeze out 3 day normal use of battery, excellent reception and build quality, not another battery hog filled with oh so important features that cant last 2 hours of on-screen time.
jesus guys, im dissapoint

AnonD-1825, 19 Oct 2011Google copied taking screenshots from phone from iOS, also ... moreOk, so after a while seeing your comments on this site, I really think that you're on Apple's payrolls.
After your dear iOS copied everything (and I mean everything) from each and everyone with iOS5, you have the balls to say that Android copied some stuff from others ?
You should just shut up and just read the articles, no more comments like this one allowed for you.
