In a time honored tradition, we have the latest and greatest cameraphones lined up and ready to shoot for the top. It's been a while, we know. The last time we had a taste of 8MP sharpshooting action was in the distant 2008. 8MP then and 8MP now...

but colors r rich n vivid..yet maintain the skin tones best.

    Ok iphone's camera is better but it makes sense if you consider that it's 200 euros more expensive than nokia N9,100 euros than S2 and so on..
    The question is if it worths the extra cash for the slightly better quality..??

        1. ALL cameras in phones will have features and functions better, equal or worse than rival products. If you were really worried about quality, you'd have a decent stand alone camera.
        2. I own a GS2 and I AM happy with it, end of.
        3. Camera speed? I don't know anyone who needs their cameraphone to be ready in a millisecond. Most photos you take - portraits or objects at a museum for examples - will take TIME. You won't care about start-up speed.
        4. I'm no Apple hater (my family all own iPods) but if the manufacturers didn't share tech, where would the iPhone be?

          I appreciate this review as it gives me yet another reason to get an Iphone 4s....

          also, Nokia N8 users you need to realize why it was not included.. as far the 'cameraphone' comparison goes this is between Luxury Sedans, why would you want to throw a Lamborghini Murciélago in with them?

            Are You kidding?!

            Look the sample images in Zoom window, and You'll able to see the difference, I mean Xperia Arc S makes the best photos!
            You can choose a Noiseware product to make less color noise for Xperia Arc S and then you'll able to recognise that other phone's camera softwares do the same.

            I prefer 4S and Arc S, because Galaxy II could not record stereo sound

I don't know why peo... morefriend...ARC S...at half the price of iphone 4s...gives almost identical picture..may be more vivid n richer than iphone 4s. Then spend 20000 more...why not on an excellent digicam. Mobile cams r still for casual shooting..we still need full digicam for perfect pix.

                To me iPhone 4S is the overall winner. I don't know why people "like to" hate apple devices. Its clearly understandable what an iPhone4S can shoot. Just try it and you will agree with me. iPhone4S is the best!

                  U seem to contradict ur own reviews.
                  SONY xperia arc s is clearly the best 8 mp cam,
                  colors r rich n bright and pics looks nice .
                  Friends must know that XPERIA ARC S is declared the best mobile cam by EISA AWARDS FOR 2011-2012.

                    Don't be hating on iPhone 4S just because you don't have it or hate Apple. It has best overall 8MP, best app store with real apps and not filled with junks like wallpapers and UI theme apps, best graphic chip in cellphone; where developers can specifically optimize their games to look better on the A5 SoC, and it's still has best audio output in smartphone with a line out dock, not the poor quality headphone out like most other phones. Most important of all for me is a stable OS that works when you need it to work. I don't want an OS that force closes and crashes daily or battery pull occasionally.

                      iphone 4s with less camera setting and its a gsm winner? lol

                      the sgs2 and other phones have 10 times more setting than the 4s

                      FACT
                      wonder why 4s take a picture less than 1 second is when you take a proper picture, it should focus into the object like all autofocus cameras does, the iphone takes the picture without even focusing into the object and only takes fixed focused stills!

I have the GS2 and it takes amazing pictures. I believe it's the best that is my opinion so I won't say it is. But it still however takes amazing pics for a mobile. If you truly have a bad one though then I am sorry you are missing out.

                          I think this is the best review I've found and I love the comparison charts (like data). But I'm still unsure what to get because it doesn't seem to cover the problem I have with phones- young moving targets!!

                          I have just had to return the Evo 3D because it was useless at catching clear images of young kids first time!! I had to take about 6 pics for every clear one, even after downloading a flashy camera app!! Burst helped getting one clear one out of 8 but they are then low resolution (tiny pictures!)

                          I just tried the Samsung S2 and Iphone 4s in the shop today and the Samsung was the same- lots of shadows and blurred pics for each clear one. But the 4s was great. Does anyone know what this is??

                          I really wanted a 3D phone, so thinking of trying the LG Optimus but it would be great if I could pin the blurred shots down to something and check before I buy (no-where seems to have the LG in to try).

Not only is not their own camera..they don't make their own anything. It's mainly Samsung along with Nokia and Sony and some others that make them up. They just assemble it basically. Besides this review was bogus on many levels. Many other reviews and tests showed different results even from Gsmarena themselves.

                              First off out of this review the N9 is said to have better quality and they were impressed by it's dual led flash....here is it did alright and it's poor single led could've been better??????????

                              Then The Xperia Arc S kept getting some low blows here while they were praising it's quality prior.

                              Check out the photo comparison tools and a lot of them did better then being stated here and the GS2 tops it all.

                              Also where the GS2 had the best score in LOW LIGHT Gsmarena said it needed improvement in the summary. Really?? It did the best out of all phones.....It's needs improvement.

                              And if you paid attention anytime any other phone was weaker in some way the were quick to point it out, but if it was the Iphone then it just kinda slid.

You're completely ONE SIDED now I understand THAT. If you're not then why is there the difference in this page and that page when the CAM is STILL the SAME????????

                                        You could have included the SE Xperia Ray just to see how a mid tier 8MP camera phone comapres to the most expensive ones.
