Great review! The iPhone 4s has the only video where you can actually see the texture of the wall behind the model. On all other phones the wall looks smooth. I was rooting for the Sensation, but with half the bitrate of the iphone, the sensation is still impressive. Thanks for this very thorough comparison!

Judging by video frame rate i think Galaxy S2 did not have the SC camera module witch far is worse on video. I only get ~22 fps in good light and 14 fps in bad light.
I am very curious about what camera module SGS2 has and tests with SC module.
With SGS2 is relay a big lottery regarding camera you get.

I don't know what version of Nokia N9 GSMArena used coz the videos I took even prior to PR1.1 have bitrate of 8mbps both in good & low light conditions and 6mbps in completely dark condition for 720p and why is audio always ignored coz I have seen every other phone being useless while recording some live concerts they just can't take it and hence the audio is so distorted it ruins the whole video but N900 could and as the N9 has the same audio, I'm assuming the same for N9. But again, N9 camera does need loads of improvement..

It is not all the top of the line everything, but that does not make it crap. And there is no need for useless, pointless, and uncalled for bashing. Is good to see a great job in camera-terms in the 4S and Android phones, they only miss bigger sensor like 12MP and real Xenon flash...

I think the conclusion should be corrected to recommend a "8 megapixel" cameraphone, then it'll be the 4S. I think the Nokia N8 with the Carl Zeiss lens and 12 megapixels is a better cameraphone for taking pictures!

i own three of these, the 4s, GS2 and the Arc. Have to say i go back to using the arc for the camera and video more than the others.
Colours are a lot more vivid and seem to "pop" but then i suppose that could be the bravia engine enhancing things. That aside, the EXMOR-R lets me get amazing low light images.
The other features on the camera like simle shot and face detection while not revolutionary are superbly implemented. Overall,i think the arc just works better as a cameraphone for taking the photos and displaying them back again.

well,i think that nokia n9 is the best in terms of image quality!Come on, f/2.2 27mm ( in practical terms) lens and carl zeiss optics...4s can't be better!30mm lens and f/2.4!
Also, the gsmarena team didn't realise that n9 due to it's larger optical field produces pics with much more distortion that 4s because the iphone has only 30mm field!
the dual led flash is standar!!! better than the led-one flash and damian (nokia camera guru) suggests that n9's flash module is THE STRONGEST dual led flash modeule nokia ever produced!
O.K n8 (which i personally own) is the best in terms of image quality.Why not also the n9 at 8 mega pixels??
Nokia has confirmed that own the crown in the "camera phone" area since n73,n93 etc...
Personally, n9 the best!i will also make a comparison between 4s n9 sgs2 and ORIGINAL arc (not s) on my own and i will see the results...Cheers guys!

Where is the myTouch 4G Slide? Not only are the photos incredible, but the 5-shot burst is the best action shot feature, bar none.

You should have included the Xperia Pro in this roundup instead of the Arc. Judging from the photo compare tool, Xperia Pro has one of the best cameras.
