8 megapixel mega shootout: Picture this

10 November 2011
In a time honored tradition, we have the latest and greatest cameraphones lined up and ready to shoot for the top. It's been a while, we know. The last time we had a taste of 8MP sharpshooting action was in the distant 2008. 8MP then and 8MP now...

    gsm arena have gone mad.
they are recording toys to show 1080p,
ridiculous.no bcoz there is catch there,
bcoz no mobile camera can record good quality video.
never buy such high price mobile to take pictire or video, bcoz when you went to tourist place and even put out your iphone 4s people think its poor not to have digicam or camcorder.
common prople get a life, iphone or any smart phone is not an luxorius item today,
    its just 700$ only,
every one has ability to pay for that,
    smartphones are just timepass,
i get bore on every phone in 5 days only.
so i will never buy such think that is of for such few days.

AnonD-1544, 13 Nov 2011 OK I must admit this, because admitting something shows t... moreTotally agree with you. It has to do with the fact that symbian users have been using smart phones for a long time and know what they are talking about. They go more for functionality than raw hardware. Most Android users on the other hand are probably using a smartphone for the first time which means they have come to accept that it is ok to boast about dual cores and ram even If it means your battery not making it to the end of a day! Or that viruses are common as their phone is almost a computer and computers get infected/attacked by viruses quite often. When I learnt about programming in college the first thing to consider was the efficiency of the code. I have noticed on galaxy s2 that it is using 40-50 % of cpu and about 400 mb ram when I am not doing anything!! Compare that with my N8 which its using around 120 MB ram and I still think with 256 MB ram does much better multitaking than gs2 which sports 1GB ram. don't know if this is google's fault or Samsung's but my 1 year old N8 outlasts my friend's galaxy s2 by almost 11 hours even with a smaller battery (1200mAh vs 1500mAh).and I don't even need to talk about the camera where galaxy s2 has at best a mediocre camera that can't even beat my old N86 from 2008!!

OK I must admit this, because admitting something shows that you're brave enough. I know some people won't like this but here we go.

I'm an android user but I noticed that most android users are young in age, I believe the majority are teenagers. Even when they defend samsung or google, they just defend them for the wrong reasons, sometimes it's even laughable.

Nokia users on the other hand, really seem to know what they are talking about. I truly believe nokia users are smarter! Yes they are, because when ever they have an argument they back it up with real knowledge and info not some crap BS!

I must admit that nokia may have lost a lot of young teenagers, but they still have some wise and smart users.

Nokia users are not the kind that just goes with the flow! Unlike android users who seems to believe anything the media wants them to believe! I'm an android user and I like android, but I surely respect nokia users a lot! Unlike samsung users who constantly fights with each other just to prove that their phones are the best, nokia users defend what they've got in a logical and reasonable way, they also admit android may be better than symbian, but they have enough confidence to believe that symbian still has a lot to offer.

        Peace :)

Some have these things and some don't. I remember a friend have a flip phone that had a file manager and was basic phone system and he could make and edit folders and this was like 04. Razr's and many other old phones have voice recorders. And The map thing is a big give and take. Some do and some don't. So you can't blame a specific os or phone for that.

I've tried phones like Galaxy 5, Galaxy Spica, Xperia X8, Motorola Spice and none of them comes out of the box with any of that. Perhaps that's because they are low end and you need a high-end phone to experience a file manager and a voice recorder out of the box? (:
Probably there are apps that you can download maps on your phone and use it without a data plan, but that's not the case of Google maps which is certanly the app that most people will use and should be the only one that they would ever need. All you can do is the cache of some limited areas but you can't by any means download all the maps to use it offline.

And on top of it all Gsmarena seems to be doing these things a lot lately. Like when they started that fued with the whole "does this mean Samsung admits they copied Apple thing?" When obviously that was only the meaning of what was said if you werer looking for that to be the meaning. The more obvious and logical meanings where like they were taking the first or smarter steps towards avoiding Apple's develish legal team or saying they don't woant any opening for chance or confusion.

The GS2 did the very best in low light performance of all, but they had the nerve to mention it needing improvement in that area. Explain that one.????????

-When the 4S kinda did more poorly they didn't say anything in some parts where as they were all to quick to say something about the others.

-One of their recent reviews contradicts what they said about the Arc S here.

-THE N9 IS DUAL LED AND GOOD TOO!!! Yet here they are saying..."the poor performance of it's single led flash".??????????????

Who told you that. Obviously you are only talking from hearing it elsewhere, experience with very few phones, or you made it up. Plenty of phones do come with recorders. There is also the option to get many others to your liking.
And you can use map type apps without a data plan...though wifi doesnt travel with you.

Now you wanna talk poor os, phone, and company? How about an os made by a tyranic company that releases the same phone once per year every year and copies everyone and then claims all the ideas as their own and then sues everyone for copying them? Or that huge lacking of multitasking or individuality.

You try and match your fmobi to the speed of FB online. Even refreshing doesn't bring up the latest info like status and it completely misses others.

I know because I've been USING it. The official App is much better, but then companies like FB and Twitter are backing out of the symbian markets for good reason.

That is why my opinion is relevant. So don't go all fanboy on me.
