Nokia Lumia 800 review: New beginnings

2 December 2011
It will take crowds erupting in delight to silence the ring of the "burning platform" speech in the Nokia Lumia 800's ears. The speaker being Nokia CEO Stephen Elop and the burning platform Symbian...

sks, 04 Dec 2011This phone will do well if Microsoft supports USB on the GO... moreas someone stated below look how mess up the security of android right now, one reason the open file management of the OS, even myself i will not use android for any online/financial transaction, who knows what are lurking inside those Innocent file folders, hahaha, and for productive apps maybe you should rethink IOS and WP7, but for games ios and android, but i dont think android in the long run can acquire vast high quality game catalogue from IOS due to piracy,

Despite my N97 Mini being ... well, kinda crap, I still use it because Nokia's navigation software is actually quite good. Or at least, it was on Symbian.

Why on earth would they leave out routing options in Nokia Drive? I may as well use Bing Maps.

I will still be getting the Lumia 800 when my plan's up, as I've been loving WP7.5. But I was really hoping for a lot more from Nokia on the software front.

Hmm.. too early to tell if its going to be goo, hey GSMarena? i say you would call it if it was a great phone. I really believe that. If it was awesome you usually say so, and you didnt say so about this one.

                next!!

This phone will do well if Microsoft supports USB on the GO, NFC, a more open file management. till then its N8/N9 for me. If I wanted a good app support I would have preferred IOS or Android. The very reason most people go for Symbian or meego is the openness, good hardware integration with OS, battery life and the number of apps comes last. Nokia needs to realize that. Does anybody know if there is an NFC chip in there? Does it work with Nokia suite?

It's clearly evident that most here are delusional or unrealistic.
As a a long time symbian user, i realize symbian's time is up, yes they are improving it with anna/belle, but the general purchasing public isn't going to embrace any system that starts with the name "symbian" anymore.
                            Get over it, i did.
The n9, wish it had more support, but it doesn't, hopefully some of the things people like about the n9 will live on in apollo.

I see the 800 as a second choice to the iphone. As far as android is concerned, that's just a symbian clone with better icon's and a more catchy name. It's security and system management is a god damn mess, the real question is, are you operating an android phone or is it operating you?
Yes i own an android device and i just feel like it's a disorganized mess.

By the end of next year, adults will choose ios, then windows, after that it will be android for kids.

wp7 is a waste. why put the windows badge on something that can't run .exe but has a 1ghz or better cpu ? running exes would be a great selling point.

Meego is just like webOS beautiful by os itself but without ecosystem, its just a hw with sw for making calls, text, basic web browsing, and all the basic stuffs a smartphone can do, if thats what you want. But consider this ecosystem with music store-zune, cloud base storage - skydrive, xbox live system, a marketplace with decent apps and games, it makes your whole experience of a smatphone more justified,
