Nokia 808 PureView in focus: Interview with D. Dinning

29 February 2012
The Nokia 808 PureView certainly made a splash at MWC 2012, pinning the company back on the cameraphone map in an extremely advantageous position. We had Nokia's Damian Dinning tell us more about his team's baby and how it came to be.

cool take my advice, 22 Aug 2012I dont recommend this phone there is nothing so special g... morethe sensor is 41 mp. such image will be 10-20 mb in size you can click 41 mp images with it. but the default option is 8mp PureView which compress the 41 mp image to 8 mp giving it much richer image than a typical 8mp can give.

cool take my advice, 22 Aug 2012I dont recommend this phone there is nothing so special g... moreNot true. Samsung applies artificial sharpening, noise reduction, contrast boost and color boost to make their photos look more "Hollywood" but that's not real quality. As for the browser, just get Opera or Opera Mini and that's it. Or you are still using Internet Explorer on your PC? I have no problems surfing on my N8 and 808 is twice more powerful.

      I dont recommend this phone
there is nothing so special given in it. Just really heavy loaded phone.
They are saying 41m.p. Sensor but a 8 m.p. Camera from samsung gives you better image quality in much cheaper rates.
If you open 2 or more webpage nokia 808 have lots of intruptions but in samsung you can open 4 to 6 webpages at a time it is still better.(any galaxy model)

skeptic, 09 May 2012The N8 was/ is the laggiest, buggiest, most over-hyped came... moresymbia 3 was not a very gud os..i admit it. but now nokia has improved a lot...and about pureview 808 it is the best smartphone ever made with the worlds most smoothest and efficient os nokia belle..tell me a single smartphone which has 41mp...or any os which can so efficienty run a single core 1 .3 ghz. and also record videos at 1080p with just a single core processor????????? this clearly means that nokia as well as nokia os has improve a lot... pureview is better than sgs3.

People have only two options to choose from buying a mobile phones to this day:

              1. For a cameraphone, the answer is NOKIA 808 PureView

              2. For a smartphone, you only have SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 that outperforms all the would-be smart (but dumb) phones.

Have you tried to reinstall belle on your n8, it might help

Good information...sum of da answerz n information waz kinda just "movin around in circlez" but still...good enough
I, personally, would love to try out da 808..n I wouldn't be too harsh on it'z rezultz either, in termz of criticizin..coz they're (Nokia) tryin sumthin new n for da first time..I dunno anyone else who'z dared to take such a step..it'z a bold step n um sure it will be fruitful..I look forward to successorz of 808..more fonez from da "pureview" family..better RAMz n ROMz..better processorz..better cameraz that elimiate da technical limitationz that are faced in da current 808, in termz of imaging (specifically)..better screen rezolution..n of course, better body n battery life :)
Go on Nokia...do ur thing :)

My phone has reset itself for no reason at least 10 times, all apps refuse to work or shut down with errors periodically, it often takes 5 seconds or more to register screen presses, and i have lost phone reception for days at a time while the network itself is fine. Sure, GREAT phone... Tell me again how Nokia is so good?

I don't hate the brand (yet), but i'll certainly avoid it if their other phones are of the N8's quality.

The camera and video look great, but you have to wonder why Nokia cannot move off their antiquated, low resolution arses on their displays. The display is the window into all the camera and phone functions. The display has to be great for the phone to be great. PERIOD.

The N8 was/ is the laggiest, buggiest, most over-hyped camera(phone? barely) i've ever used. Easily the worst piece of technology i've ever purchased, if you forget the camera performance (still bad in low-light).

What makes you think this will be any different? 42MP does not make it a good phone.

If u read many articles about dis tech, it just shows how innovative nokia can be, unlike apple (ipad, touch screen, siri, ootification center, ...) or samsung (svoice, sgs2, focus flash, ...) i could go on, but the text box would hold me back
