RidingTheFlow, 09 May 2012You will believe that Pentile is not an issue until you see... moreI like the brilliancy, with a magazine-like quality of the rendering of the AMOLED screen. You can always control the saturation with the screen mode to have it more "natural" look. I just love the clarity it gives against the bright sunlight.
And I love the fact that it can high contrast white fonts against a true black background when reading and saves power. This is something the ICS has with its internet browser.
I do digital paintings with my Note, using the Sketchbook app and S Pen, and I don't see dramatic differences when I look at the art on an LCD screen. I just turn to a less saturation screen mode of the Note to judge the colors pigmentation correctly.

"The good news is that even if the design is far from perfect, few people will actually be looking at it too closely. Who will waste time looking at the back of the I9300, when there is a screen as gorgeous as this at its front?"
and:
"The hyperglazed plastic will not enjoy universal appeal, but that might not turn out to be too great a problem - all eyes will be on the screen anyway. "
But it's not just about how it looks, it also how durable it'll turn out to be in daily use. Strong glass won't help if the rest of the phone is weak.
"The dynamic range of the images produced by the Samsung I9300 Galaxy S III is pretty pleasing too..."
Do you mean in absolute or relative terms?
In comaprison to other smartphone cameras out there, I'm sure it's okay, but in absolute terms it's not good. Just look at the highlights in your sample pictures.

Who needs quad core where you can get dual core krait or a single core Intel Atom that has the same processing power.
American company has a more advance core architecture technology

Even when you don't see individual pictures, you eyes could perceive how _sharp_ picture is overall. Fuzzier picture tires eyes more on the long run, since they're continuously try to re-focus to no avail.

My experience with pentile is very bad, my S use pentile and even though it has a smaller screen, 4 inch, than my S2, 4.3 inch, and the same resolution, 480x800, text... on S is very much more grainy with jagged edges even though the same resolution on a smaller screen should make text... less grainy and jagged!

TheNeighbor, 09 May 2012Honestly, GSM Arena writers are putting down the pentile Su... moreYou will believe that Pentile is not an issue until you see some picture content which smashes it. Most of this content involves high contrast and heavily saturated red & blue (like, say, red or blue-on-black line art). Content like this makes pentile drop resolution 2x times, and checkerboard pattern/jaggies become quite visible. Even for 300ppi screen resolution will drop 2x times.
I'd prefer my screen not to drastically vary its quality (and power consumption, too) based on what is being displayed.

How on earth HTC One S beats HTC One X in every single Synthetic benchmark? It doesn't make any sense at all!

Marco, 09 May 2012This phone will sell like hot cakes when it comes out but I... moreHonestly, GSM Arena writers are putting down the pentile Super HD AMOLED too much! With such a minuscule size of the pixels, I can't even tell from the 217ppi of the S2 with the 285ppi of the Galaxy Note(which I own)!!! Now the S3 has even has a higher density of 306ppi, and yet people complain around that Super HD AMOLED screen is terrible!
The truth is, the real experince with Super HD AMOLED is just brilliant! It's a non-issue when you see the screen with your own eyes, and not to believe on the microscopic analysis of the Pentile Super HD AMOLED's system of rendering with the RGB system of the AMOLED Plus - they both look absolutely clear to the naked eye!
Who looks at a smartphone's screen with a microscope?!

So ... why did you not say anything about the pen-tile display matrix? Some users would like to know that when factoring in things for a buy/no buy decission.
I'm a bit dissapointed: plastick back, pentile display matrix ...
had better thanks . HTC one x is still better that this over-hyped phone

Whoa, this display is really a downer.
Pentile AND max brightness even less than SGS2, seriously? Sounds awfully lot like Nexus display...

Dear Gsmarena,
It can be seen clearly that you love samsung. You make complete reviews only for all samsung smartphones, but not for other manufacturers too.
And because i was off topic,I think that gs3 il a big dissapoinment. Dual core phones can beat it in benchmarks and many feature phones ore any other phones beat it at design and material quality.

there is Steve Kondik written all over this rom ... let's see what happens when the on sale version comes out at the end of the month. I'm sure some polishing can be expected .
and those who just bought the HTC one X and are now saying this is better and that is better than the s3 . Grow up !
Be happy with what you got and don't bother comparing it with iPhone crushing tech !

Does the camera have the S2-problem with "pink spot" in white pictures in low light?
I will probably wait another year for S4, because I really hated the pentile screen on S, and I already feel that I have everything I want with my S2!
I think S3 will have perfect sound-quality after a "Voodoo soundfix"!
